What's your favourite tipple?

Since the holiday season is looming, I thought I would ask what you guys like to drink.
This is the only time of year we have alcohol in the house and we have been wondering what to get? My vote is cherry brandy, it's absolutely my favourite winter warmer! What's yours? Do you like a beer, glass of wine or a cocktail? Do you stock up for guests? Always have wine with your meals? Leave a glass of Port out for Santa?

There's not much I won't drink......gin is a no, never developed a taste. Fortunately my body won't let me drink much anymore, I'ver always tended to be a "cheap date" or lousy drinker, even more so now. One's the limit!

Cherry Brandy or that Hungarian cherry wine Kijafa....but can't find it lately....is good. A good port is wonderful.

Brandies, I'll prefer Metaxa...the Greek brandy as I find it smoother.

Sweet liqueurs......I often end up cooking with them, rarely drinking: Amaretto, orange liquers, the walnut and hazelnut liqueurs, etc.

Ouzo is fine for sipping, but just one!

Wines......yep, I like most. At one time we belonged to a wine club and became quite snooty about wines, now I don't care. I recognize the better ones but the pocket book won't sustain that hobby.

Beer.....not often. At the ball park, yes. With pub food, yes. But not to sit and quaff randomly.

Harder stuff like whiskeys, scotch, vodka......sparingly. I don't prefer whiskey over scotch or vise versa, but do have my favorites within each group. Vodka straight, no.

Margaritas......oh geeez, yes. Those slide down so easily I have to be very careful.

Alcohol puts me to sleep and then 2 hours later I'm wide awake. So any consumption has to be carefully planned......rather takes the fun out it.
Oh - cooking with liqueurs? Most of them find their way into hot cocoa or milk at my house ;0

I always have a spiced Christmas wine (yummy) and guests do bring the wine they prefer as well.

As for me - Bacardi in diet soda or Kahlua in just abut anything if I am not drinking Margaritas or Bloddy Mary's :P Oh... Bailey's is good too.

I see a trip to the liquor store this weekend
How about spiked Eggnog? MMMMMMmmmmmmm, fattening as all get out, but so tasty!
I'm not a wine person AT ALL ...mostly b/c I haven't really tried it  ...but all the ladies in my husband's office drink Ménage à Trois, so that's now my choice too! It's super AND CHEAP!! Yum Yum. Okay, I've only had it one time, and that was last christmas ...the only month I wasn't pregnant and bf'ing. Then the cycle began again.

Before I had kids, appletini was always my choice of drinks. Man am I thirsty now. Yet another year I won't be able to drink. :(
Cosmos!!!! and Bailey's and Coffee...and spiked eggnog....and AstiSpumanti..... 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)
I don't drink much, but each Christmas season, Bailey's Irish Cream finds it's way to my coffee cup -- EVERY Saturday :)

Light weight I know....

If we are out to dinner or are with friends, it's always a Cape Cod or Tom Collins dry- straight up with a twist 8)

I always have wine coolers around here - my favorite are Blackberry---

LOL--- Just like the Boonsfarm days in High School.

John is a Coors light man all the way-- or if it is a mixed drink it's always Jack and Coke.
Jo--I like Menage a Trois too!

Hmmm, I like dark beers, even in the summertime. As long as they're cold, I don't see why it's not a summer beverage!

I like pinot grigio and lately have been off the red wine kick.

Cocktails--I like dirty martinis, like liquers (Irish coffee, yum!)

I had too many rum and diet cokes when I was younger to drink them much.

Mostly just a beer or wine girl...
Lori--that's too funny that you mentioned Boonsfarm and high school--WE drank that in high school too!
I don't drink often and might go to the liquor store once a year if that but I love Fireball Whiskey, rum and coke, and Bailey's.
I don't like beer but will drink it if I want to get drunk. LOL

I hate wine.

Most of the shots I like can't be typed here, family friendly and all that  but one that I really like is called a Broken Down Golfcart. It's a shot of melon liquer, a shot of amaretto and a few drops of cranberry juice.

Oh the stories we could tell. Good Ole Boonsfarm :D :D :D
I like Menage a Trois too!

What is it, a drink, wine, ??? I'm not going into the liquor store and ask for it by name  "I'd like a Manage a Trois" Lady, never in a million years would be the response.
For all of you Bailey's lovers out there, if you get the opportunity (and can find it), try Amarula. It comes from South Africa and is made with the fruit of the Marula tree and cream. Very yummy! I find it a little bit lighter than Bailey's. I have a great cheesecake recipe using Amarula I will have to post.
Kathie
I've always been very boring about this... A screwdriver once a year and a beer twice a year. Give or take.

I'd really like to try some of the ultra hip cocktails the younguns are doing in nightclubs- flourescent blue and God only knows what else.
Greg somehow managed to get a Baileys free sample in the post yesterday, it was the coffee flavour one, quite sickly in my opinion, but he likes it.
Ooooh! I just remebered Long Island Iced Tea. I'm gonna make a whole thread about it!
For me nothing better than Johnnie Walker Black, lots of rocks, lemon twist, water back....yum! Ice in beer is a must and champagne at weddings. Peppermint schnapps in hot chocolate is good too :)
