What are your plans for Thanksgiving?

This board has been slow lately, so I'm throwing a few random threads out to hopefully wake some folks up ;)

We'll be going to my parent's house thanksgiving day and of course watching some FOOOOOOOOOOTBALL (GO AGGIES!) and then heading to his parent's place the day after so mr. j and his dad can play some golf in the backyard while I stay inside with his mom and eat all their food. She always has sugar cookies for me! Knowing the weather here, maybe I'll get a tan in the backyard when the boys are playing golf ;)

T-day dinner at a restaurant, and we (Joan) didn't have to make all of the arrangements!!!
Finch family thanksgiving is this Saturday! and my birthday is Sunday! - so I asked for this weekend off. I am the pie lady - 2 pecan and 2 pumpkin pies. These are the required pies - others may bring lesser pies!

I work all the actual holiday - 12 hr shifts Thanksgiving Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. :(
We will have a family dinner Thursday, after I get off work at 7pm.
All the kids are going there separate ways this Thanksgiving, but they are all coming over on Sunday for a Pasta Feast, lovingly prepared by my hubby with his homemade sauce....Joey is making her famous dump cake....Jen will bring her delicious shrimp dip..Maureen will make her wonderful veggie casserole.....yummmm~~~ ALL the kids (6), grandkids (5), and my new granddog, Domino (total dogs,,,4)!!!! We will eat, laugh and plan our Christmas Eve....... It will be very interesting~~~~and alot of fun!!!!

On Thanksgiving, Dino and I are opening the restaurant. There are alot of truckers and truck stops in our area and we have set up a couple of contracts to make Thanksgiving Pizzas for the truckers... :D :D :D ((someone has to feed those poor boys!!!)))

Then we may have a Thanksgiving dinner at the casino in Illinois to finish the day!!!!!
What? No one has included :!: watching the dog show on Thanksgiving Day

It starts at about 10 Am EST...John O'Hurley hosts it, or did in the past. I watch every T-day while doing my cooking!
I love reading about what you guys are doing- especially the cooking!
Don't forget your cameras!

When is Thanksgiving?

Thursday, Nov 26th.
Dawn it says NBC at noon - it doesn't say anything about simulcast, although older ones are on HULU, so you can watch this one there probably at a later date.
I just want to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving! We had our thanksgiving in October up here in Canada, so I'm counting down the days until Christmas! 35 to be exact!

I think this is a much better tradition than football! Nothing against football, I just prefer to watch the pooches.

I hope you all have a great weekend, counting your blessings with friends and family!
I am with you Dawn.....working! :(

After that I don't think we are doing anything....
I have been home sick lately for a big family get
together.
We will in January!
It'll be quiet this year. Just me, hubby and baby, but a full menu still! So lots of cooking...Gonna see if I can get away with only cooking a turkey breast. Doubt it
Our house is the gathering place this year, and we will be 12 in total. Plan to spend the whole next week cooking in preparation.

Hey Dawn - you're a Nov 22nd baby too!! Unfortunately (or fortunately, for you) I'm older. Oh well. Beats the alternative!!

Ah, someone with the dubious honor of having JFK shot on your birthday as well.
Thirty six of will be at my Sisters'. Fun will be had by all.

I had a call last night from Skyler wanting to "stay over the night" with us on Thursday after the feast. Humm... I think her Mom and Dad may have had something to do with that so they can shop on Friday.

No worries-- my brother - the girls "PeePaw" wants to keep them, so I think after we stuff ourselves crazy, John and I will just chill the rest of the weekend.
This is our year to be home for Thanksgiving. We will have Christmas with my husbands family this (this reverses next year).
I am going home for a wedding and bringing my mother back with us. She will go back in a week, when my kids go back up up for the football game.

I love to cook Thanksgiving dinner!

Yeah, but you had to be just a young'n when that happened. I remember it vividly - was in 6th grade and everyone was sent home from school.

Well nothing really, we dont celebrate thanksgiving here

Am looking forward to Christmas and all the food, Oooooh diet happening in the new year
Daughter, husband and grandaughter coming! After a great dinner and last dish washed and put away signals Christmas! We get a live tree we can plant on Friday and up goes the decorations and another wonderful dinner Friday night! When my daughters were younger we also went shopping that weekend! They picked out their gifts, I wrapped them right away and they had to wait until Christmas to see them again! Really fun when they were teenagers...they would beg to have them before Christmas...no way! This year we are sending daughter and husband to Pigeon Forge to have alone time while we take care of grandaughter. Not sure we will get to decorate as much with a 18 mth. old in the house! Decided to decorate the porch outside this weekend before it gets really cold...they are predicting rain and 20's next week! Thanksgiving always means a great dinner, and the start of the Christmas season...love the fact daughter wants to be here in our home and teach Zoe all the traditions! First time she will leave baby overnight!
We are going out to dinner and a movie for Thanksgiving this year. Our son is coming by in the evening with his fiance. The Christmas decor is already up, so should be a nice relaxing holiday. :D
Well, I'm with the working people.

BUT...Dh is cooking and I suggested to him to ask his friend and his friends father to come over. The Mom passed this last year and they were going to go out to eat. I thought that sounded lonely and so did Dh.

They exepted. So while I'm working, Dh will be cooking and when I get home, waalaa, dinner with friends(I'll probably have to clean up after).
We aren't doing anything, and I'm really sort of down about it. The oven in our new place is very small; its going to make cooking a challenge. We don't have any family, but we usually have a few friends with no nearby family to visit that come over and join us for dinner. This year, all of the "loners" we usually dine with have other plans. In fact, many of them are going out to eat together, and didn't think to invite us, which I find myself feeling a bit hurt about.

I could make reservations somewhere, but I think I was really looking forward to entertaining in our new house. And when I ask Adam if he wants me to try and cook, or to arrange for us to eat out, I get a non-commital sort of answer from him. So I have no idea what we are doing, and I'm feeling sort of blue about it. Thanksgiving is usually one of my favorite holidays.
Thanksgiving isn't a Mexican holiday but most down here celebrate it... With over 10,000 expats here in SMA all the talk has been about where to buy turkey's and can people get cranberry's lately. So i'm not a saint (heaven those that know me ) but Wednesday l am going into the Juardine and helping to serve a meal to the 140 elderly women that sit in doorstoops and beg for money and food. It's an every Wednesday thing, they get a big can of beans, a package of tortilla's and a container of rice each week. This next week we have had 100 canes donated for those that need it. It's rather humbling to see these elderly women honestly. Actually not just the women but alot in this part of the country. They work very hard and long hours to put very little on their families tables and clothes on their backs.

Thursday afternoon i will be going with Rodrigo and his partner to some friends house for dinner. Should be a good time... but i don't party all night as they tend to do so I will be home with the kiddos before late.
We had our extended Finch family Thanksgiving yesterday - and it was delicious! We did a head count, and there were 43 people there!!!
That is Todd's siblings and their families..... :D
Everyone contributes to the meal, and it is always wonderful. Turkey, dressing, ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, green bean casserole, broccolli and cheese casserole, dinner rolls, salads, pies (pumpkin, pecan, apple, cherry), and birthday cake - pumpkin bars w/ cream cheese icing!
mmmmmmmmm DAwn, can i come to your house yesterday?????
Even to someone who hates thanksgiving, there were several things I could have enjoyed on that menu!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yummy gotsheep.

Even though I work the real Thanksgiving day, Todd is still making the whole meal again. Making the 20+# bird this time - I can't wait!!!
Thank goodness he loves to cook..... :cheer:

If you're up for the drive...come on over!! I'm sure we can fit two more at the table and the boys would love the playdate.

GOSH that's tempting!!!! But I've since been suckered into cooking a bird. I like to cook ALOT. But I was beginning to think maybe it would be nice to eat out, when another couple asked if they could join us. So now I'm playing hostess for a very small party.

I'd rather have a sheepie play-date + turkey!!!!! :D
