What should I do?! The girl is available

I believe told everyone from the begining that I was looking for a girl sheepie - and I even contacted the breeder specifically for the girl. I decided to get the boy rather than wait a long while for another.

The girl became available because the person who wanted her is moving?! 8O

Now... I'm not quite sure what I want to do. :? I wanted a girl sheepie - but I got used to the idea of bringing Fangorn home.

I'm really torn. I wanted a girl from the start - and my parents wanted me to get a girl anyway. But I don't know now... I've not had Fangorn at all... so I'm not really bonded to him... but I thought he was such a cutie and thought about him a lot.

What should I do?! I almost wish I could just get them both!

Oh God... ok... finally calmed myself down.

I wonder why I'm so emotional right now? :?

I just really wanted a girl - and now that she is available again I was really excited. But I feel guilty about Fangorn - because I got really excited about getting him. I guess it won't be so bad - because it's not like he came home with me and stayed for a week - and then the girl became available.

I think I want more time to think - but I think if I hesitate I won't be able to change my mind.

Will anyone think badly of me if I changed my mind?
Those are decisions I hate making. I would just get both because otherwise, I'd go back and forth forever! Have you actually met Fangorn yet? I think that would make a big difference in the decision.
That parental guilt is kicking in already. Here is what I would do, ask the breeder do you have some one lined up for Fanghorn are they nice people etc. will he have a good home and be loved. What is the girls name? She needs a name, then pick between the say Daisey and Fanghorn. Don't pick between the beloved and the unnamed. Also do you want to talk about hair and nails and experience similar bio-functions or do you want to be in the yard chasing squirrels and talking about football. In all seriousness we will think you made an intelligent decision with lots of thought. The last thing we will worry about is that you may at some point do the wrong thing for the dog, it is obvious your heart is too big. The only thing that really worries me right now is that you may end up with two. WHich wouldn't be the end of the world.

Keep on Loving
Keep on Thinking

And by the way go ahead and cry, if thats your medicine. All of life is bittersweet, you have to experience the bad to appreciate the good.
I vote for both... but I don't have to care for them! lol
If a girl is what you wanted from the beginning, I would go with the girl.
There isn't much difference between the two in my opinion, both are just as loving, funny, smart, stubborn, intelligent, and cute. Girls have a more serious surgery for spaying, boys I think have a slightly rougher teenage phase, I think only because they tend to be bigger and stronger, but I think that really varies dog to dog.
Just from my recent experiences I think boys have a slightly stronger odor to them, maybe because he tends to get pee on his legs, I don't know.
Whatever you decide, it is the right decision for YOU :)
I say get both. That way they will have each other to play with. Two puppies aren't much more work than one, I always ended up getting 2 at a time because we could never choose just one.
I think I want to call her Momoko - it means "peace child" in Japanese.

I'm thinking that I should get her - even though I started getting my heart set on Fangorn. I think my dad will appreciate it more and I've been wanting her from the start.

I think it's me putting way too many human characteristics onto my animals again. I keep thinking in my mind that Fangorn is saying "Why didn't my mama want me?" or something horrible. I know that is sound SO stupid - but for some reason I think that way - even though I've never met Fangorn or gotten to know him.

But... oooh... I would just looooove to buy them both - but I don't have the money lol. It would be nice though. Then I wouldn't have to make this choice.
Not a Tolkien name?
I was thinking you'd go with Arwen or Eowyn....
Hi,

I can relate as when my name was on the list for puppies, I had really wanted a girl. Instead 9 boys were in the litter and two girls and they had been promised to those on the list before me. I was offered a boy - whom I named Merlin.

I had no regrets once I got the little bundle of furball in my arms and I suspect you may be the same.

You have a tough choice but I can almost quarantee that once you hold her...the thoughts of a boy will be a distant memory.

Good luck!

Marianne and the boys
If you could afford both I'd suggest buying both but puppies cost a lot, so I say go with the girl. I wouldn't worry too much about the boy, I'm sure he'll find a great home. When I was looking for a puppy to buy I originally was going to buy another, but he wouldn't have been ready to come home with me until April and I'm slightly impatient..heehee. I felt bad at first but I know he will definetly find a great family. Good luck. :)
Hi Integra- is it possible for you to meet either of them? Sometimes it is more about the puppy that you bond with, than what sex they are... But if the breeder is in another state, that would be tough... Either way- whether it is little Fangorn, or little Momoko (I was hoping for Lorien!) I'm sure they will a wonderful, beloved addition to your family! Let us know what you decide.

Karen :)
Get both!!!!

In a more serious note... Get the pup you feel is right in your heart. I'm sure that there's people standing in line for them anyway. If you haven't had them at home, then it's easier to make a choice. Maybe if I ever wanted a girl and then one became available, and I knew there was someone waiting for the pup I chose first, I would pick the girl anyway.

Good luck with your choice!!!
I was thinking of calling her Fimbrethil (Wand Limb) - but I wanted something cuter.

Maybe I can have her official name be something LOTR and then give her a cute name to call her?
 Good- now I can steal (loth)Lorien as a puppy name! Add that one to my stack...

Karen :)
OK voice of reason here, get both and give the boy to Karen :D hehe!!

Really I think since you started out wanting a girl, you should get the girl. You would have an awesome time w/ the male, but however some people(meaning me)like one sex better than the other for whatever reasons, and I happen to like the males better. So stick to what you wanted in the start of your seach, everyone will be happier in the long run :D
Yeah!!! I like that idea  We're finally getting closer to house purchasing... that bank account is growing slowly, and we're starting to have new home pamphlets arrving in the mail...

Karen :)
