Need vacuum recommendations please.....

..........From those who know are in a unique position to know.

I currently have a Wind Tunnel that is a piece of junk - The dog hair winds around the roller and breaks the belts constantly, it overheats and weighs about a hundred pounds. It has been in the Hoover repair store multiple times and they're telling me that it's the dog hair that's causing the problems, so...........ENOUGH!

Has anyone out there had a vacuum for more than a year that they still like?

I have just about killed mine, and I am going to get another one just like it!
It's an Eureka The Boss smartvac, 12 amps. It claims it out cleans a Dyson by 60% at half the price. I know it still has the mosrt amazing suction - it stands my ancient shag type carpet up every time. I have a rip in the hand held hose and it's taped together, and a broken plastic piece underneath, but it still sucks (a good thing!)

Mine is several years old, and I am a vacuum freak. I have almost all carpet (hate it) in my house, 8 dogs, 6 people, live on a farm and a gravel road. I vacuum most every day. My vacuum habits are a LONG standing family joke....

It has bags, and I like it better. I had bagless twice, and they were more work, lost suction and a mess to empty - dust everywhere.

Good luck on your search!
I have a good ol' Kenmore. Actaully it's not all that old. Maybe 2 years old now. I liked it well enough that I went & bought a 2nd one for upstairs! I think it cost all of $79.99 on sale. It cleans up my kennel & family room just fine. So far, no problems & I have multiple OES.
Now that I have the Dyson DC25 animal, I don't know how I ever made it through my life without it. It is hands down, the best vacuum you can buy for the money. The amount of dirt that it gets from deep, deep in the carpet is amazing. Until I got this one, I never realized what a lousy job my old vacuum was doing. It works so great on the bare floors, there's no need to ever get a broom out. The pieces all easily attach and detach, plus it's really light to move around. The stair attachment couldn't work better or easier-- I've never seen my stairs so clean.

Dyson should pay me for these testimonials!
Definitely dyson.
Dyson, worth every penny without a doubt!!!!
I'm a Dyson fan .......have just got a handheld one for doing sofas etc and that's great too :D

I am a clean freak. ...very OCD about the house, and I think butters summed it up! Dyson is ol faithful for me. My husband hates using the dyson model we have because he hates releasing the long tube and putting it back on, and a few other things, but at the same time... loves it. He says it's very much a love/hate relationship, but without hesitating, he'd say our next will also be a Dyson.
For the Dyson people - how is the bagless? I have
several vacuums, and I HATE the bagless ones I've
had. I have been saying for 2 years I'll never get
another bagless, but I wonder if I'd like the dyson.
Does it really keep the suction?

Shellie
Yes to suction, and I have no issues with the bagless but hated it with my last vacuum. I occasionally clean the inside and other than that.. love seeing the dirt and knowing I can throw it out immediately instead of keeping it in a bag for weeks.
