Think it's time to upgrade to a King

I've noticed lately that I'm not getting any bigger, nor is my husband, but our bed is getting much smaller.

This is our routine at night: Hubby and I jump in bed, followed by our Foster cat Mary Lee who insists she must lay on my side. Chloe (our 2nd cat) jumps up and snuggles by my head taking up half my pillow. Luna will then jump up and get right between hubby and I. Finally Satyr (our first cat) will make his way to the bed and find any spot he can fit into.

In just a little over two weeks, my parents will be visiting us and bringing our new addition Jasper with them. I know that he currently likes to sleep on the bed too.

So thats what got me thinking .. as I was laying with my Zoo last night ... maybe it's time to upgrade to a king.

Anyone else have this problem at night?

For practical reasons, we babygate our bedroom. The only bed occupant besides Todd and I, is Tipup the cat.

Our bed is just a double......
Both of my Aussie's like to lay at the foot of my bed. Violet seems to like to sleep on the floor next to the bed. Sometimes it does seem crowded, but it doesn't seem to bother the girls. :D
We have the same problem and have been thinking about the same thing.

In our queen bed, by morning.. we have daddy, me, joshee and jillybean sharing a pillow between us, and at the opposite end of the bed laying horizontally ...lil J. This doesn't include the 2 cats who squeeze in the gaps in the middle. We kicked Yuki to the floor next to us, but if mommy gets out of bed ...she hops in.

Anyway, I have to put my head on the end table and lay in the GAP between the playpen and my bed. What I do for the kids. My husband always has plenty of room ...and then some yet never scoots over
Yes, we went to a king......and promptly the dogs moved in. I laugh at the menagerie we've had on that bed.....and give a nod to the strength of bed frames!

The larger bed just gave the 4-paws more room.

Now we sleep separately and each have a dog on our beds.
We have a queen and only Marley will sleep with us. She is such a good girl and will curl up wherever we tell her to, plus she usually hops down after an hour or so. Rudie couldn't care less about cuddling or sleeping near us. If I want him on the bed I have to bribe him with treats and give him a boost up

Me either  :D :D

We upgraded to a king a few years abck when the Irish Setter decided sleeping with us was a good idea. We bought the king, he decided it was too high and only sleeps on it during the day when we aren't home :)

All of ours love the bed - just not at bedtime. they prefer the floor at night (thanks goodness cause I bet the Newf slobbers in his sleep :? )
That is too funny for words - I didn't see the human either until I read the posts. Patch is a wood floor girl who likes it cool with all 4 paws up in the air up against the wall. She has never been a bed dog. To wake up and see these 2 long legs sticking inside the bedroom door up in the air is a funny sight first thing in the morn.
All three of mine are floor sleepers~~mostly cuz Dino won't let them sleep with us, but even when I ask them up, they stay about 5 minutes and then down to the floor...We have a king mattress with a feather bed on top, so maybe it is just too warm for them......

BTW.............I love my king bed!!! Sooo much room !!!
Got a king... same reason..... my questions, is there anything bigger... two large adults and three sheepies.... I'm often sleeping hanging on for dear life....
People look at me a little strange when I tell them that Joan and I have separate bedrooms and that I sleep alone but Joan doesn't.

But I know that you guys understand perfectly!

Good one!!! Guess we know which one snores less :sidestep:

I have a few who sleep upside down perioidically. And I have several who spend the entire night, but usually only the baldish ones. This morning when I woke up I was so touched Sybil was still there (she has her own real estate) that I said "awww". Well Daph thought that meant I was getting up, having GROSSLY overslept (it being 5 am and all) so she leaped up, Sybil tried to keep pace but she was half asleep and upside down so fell off the bed in the excitement.

I don't need a bigger bed (though it wouldn't hurt) so much as padded walls... :twitch:

Kristine
I understand perfectly Ron... Lee sleeps alone and I never do...

My fur babies surround me every night. Tagg sleeps in the bed between me and mom, Daisy sleeps on the floor to my left and Kiera sleeps on the floor at the foot of the bed in the summer months and in the bed in the colder months... I'm almost always the last to bed and they try to stay up with me, all but mom's Daisy, she goes in with mom when mom goes to bed and keeps her warm and cozy... till I get there... pretty cute really.

I know about upside down sleeping too. Tagg does this frequently and we call him a huge dead flea... this is my leggy boy of 110lbs... a pretty funny site..
Funny! Ive been having similar thoughts about our couch....Its huge, but not quite 2 people and 2 big dogs huge 8O

When we watch TV or movies, both dogs not only want to be on the couch, but in between Scott and I  This complicated by the fact that they both want to be touching both people...but not each other :? This leads to a lot of complex doggy "negotiations" and jostling for position.

NOT really the peaceful, relaxing family time were trying for!
Since we're all sharing bedroom secrets....

I have a lovely Ethan Allen headboard that I got at a yard sale. It's kept in the basement with the bed frame.
WHY did they always sleep with their heads under the bed? So the box spring and mattress have been directly
on the floor for years now... don't have to worry about the frame giving way and us falling on them this way.

Notice how these 4 are not sleeping on the dog bed?

We went from...
A double
To a queen
To a queen and a twin
To a king and a twin
We now have a king size bed and to the bottom of it is a queen size bed.
Oh, what my mother would think...

My goodness, you must have a huge bedroom. I have a king and it and a dresser is all that I can fit... don't call the HGTV stagers on me... They would have a field day with my house...

Love the photo, mine will also use each other as pillows. I often will start moving toward bed and they all run to the bedroom to beat me, and I will come in and see a similar scene. Sometimes I think it's too much of a fight to get my little sliver of a spot, for those who know me, or have seen me will laugh to learn that I am often found clinging to the side of our bed, the dogs leaving me the tiniest sliver of bed and often no blankets to cover me.
i have a king but doesn't matter since dreamer has to sleep on me the entire nite ouch no wonder i have backaches and sore legs in the morning
Oh Jaci, you mean I could get all of them with DH......the human in the bed......and I could have a room all to myself?? Wow! (great pix BTS, names and all!)

I have a couch and a recliner along with my queen bed.....Jack and Glacier try to use the couch at the same time (sometimes they actually tolerate one another), Harry with me. When I'm fed up, I go to the recliner......none of them have figured that out.......yet.

Perfectly, except DH sleeps with Simone and I sleep with Harry... :lmt:
We've gated them off.
Only the cat gets on the bed, he can jump gates.

Tiggy gets too hot and bails after a while but dalmo's love their creature comforts and he uses his feet and back to dig in and push everyone off to the edges and he ends up with the lion's share of the bed.

Then he starts up snoring then lets rip with a few  . No sleep for us so he's banished.
I have a similar problem!
You would think with being newly divorced I would feel like the bed is 'empty'.
*sigh* no such luck!!!

Somehow, every night I wind up with a three year old, at least one of two cats and at least one dog (usually the 120+ lb. one) in bed. If I'm not careful, I wind up with 4 - 5 dogs, a toddler and 2 cats! I usually find out by falling off the bed.

Someday I will be able to stretch my legs or roll over!!!! Of course, it'll probably happen on a vacation, but someday.....
