Miss Marley strikes again

I took Miss Marley to the IPWA Novice weight pull today, I had planned it as a Morgan outing, but earlier this week decided to take the two of them. SHE ROCKED!!!! She is spreading OES domination on the east coast as ordered!

The people running the weight pull, as well as the volunteers all wanted to talk about how amazing she was for never being in a harness before. There were only three Novices and since I had two they pulled in a young dog to round it out. Marley was mid weight class (she is according to the vet's scale this morning just under 70 pounds) and she out pulled the Sammy, the pit bull and of course Morgan. They stopped at 460 pounds (they claim it was up hill)

The pitty owner who had three other dogs in the pull kept saying if she had a proper harness she would be amazing - "for an odd breed like that its unbelievable" :)

It was super fun, she pulls right down in - once we teach her that its okay, she can pull (after all those years of - NO Marley Wait!!!) I think she will be great!

Ahh - I need to win the lottery and of course - this is just between us, since I am not sure how the coat gods would feel

Yay Marley!!!
You show 'em girl. :cheer:
Ignore the coat gods
Congrats again on tackling a new sport!

I hope the people were as nice out there as they were for us when we started. :D

When Chewie was in full coat, weight pull was the only safe harness sport we could do. It made some little tangles, but didn't damage his coat. He always enjoys it!

We went carting today, but it was just he and Abby, and pulling 2 people on the cart. Seeing Chewie does most of the pulling, it was really a 2 mile weight pull for him.... 8)

We don't have another one to enter for awhile, as one in November with a Mal group got cancelled. :(
So, when are you trying it again?
We have a group that started practice sessions - wish you were closer!
there is one in Oneida in December. I need to check the UKC site as well.

I think we'll get a harness - girls can't have enough accessories can they? I am thinking purple

There are a few in the area this winter (area being withing 5 hours) including the late winter one in Lake Placid.

Now to talk to Dan about that RV.......

Very awesome, Kerry. Somehow I just can't see mine pulling. I imagined they'd yawn, sit down and tell me to pull it my own damn self! Skikjoering they're with the program, but serious weight? 8O

Ask Dawn for tips on how to conceal illicit coat activities from the coat gods. Dawn - did you ever tell Marnie about Chewie's extracurricular activites? :sidestep:

Actually, no I didn't!

Next time we are all together, I need to bring the pictures and title certificates out, right??

Kerry - UKC is a good pulling org as well. To get the UWP (United Weight Puller) title isn't too hard - they just need to pull 8 times their weight 3 times (3 legs). They have a CH title after that. My hard part is the lack of UKC pulls - just 1-2 a year.
