How Big will He Get
Any rule of thumb how big male OES will get, his parents were 75 and 85lbs. Another question is When do you have to worry they are growing to fast. Harry is eating Purina pro plan large breed puppy food. He seems to be growing leaps and bounds. Just wandering how big he might get? Listed below are he his stats up to date. | Hello.
While the size of the parents can be an indicator of the size of your pup full-grown, there are many factors that go into the growth pattern and final size (nutrition, medical care, age of neutering, etc.). I would be more concerned about the feel of the ribs, to indicate if your pup is putting on too much weight. With a healthy pup, you should be able to feel the ribs slightly, as there should be a thin layer of fat covering them. (It should feel like the bones on the back of your hand.) If your pup's ribs feel more like the pad of your palm, your pup might need to back off the kibble a bit. 
We've had two large OES males. Quincy was 24 lbs at 12 weeks when we got him, and put on approx 10 lbs per month until he reached 10 months of age. Then it slowed down considerably. Full grown, he weighed 115 lbs. (His fightin' weight was 107 lbs, but he became hypothyroid and 115 was the best we could do.) Oscar is larger framed than Quincy, and weighs 113 lbs. If I recall correctly, Quincy's parents were in the 80 - 90 lb. range. Not sure about Oscar's parents. Hope this info is helpful. Laurie and Oscar |

Yup, they are BIG boys! I have to laugh though, as "big" is relative. I thought Quincy was pretty large until we ran into an Irish Wolfhound.  Uh, Quincy could stand under his belly.......  And then I saw a Mastiff...... I thought it was a MOUNTAIN with eyes!!! |
| Sounds like the pup's parents were average/large, not excessive. Expect about the same.
Some feel early neutering causes them to grow taller than they should without proper soft tissue support. As said above, it is all relative. If your previous dogs or dogs you have been around are what books call "large"...say 50 lbs...your pup will be bigger. To me 50 lbs is small......but then I've been dog-mum to Irish Wolfhound, Newfoundland, St.B, numerous Great Pyrs and of course my beloved OES. MO is my itty bitty sheepdog who for most of her life has been in the low 60's, but has added a mature waist lately. Jack has been up above 114 but cookie patrol has brought him back down to 105ish |
| His dad is 115 pounds...
Bumble was 23 pounds at 12 weeks. He's about 17 months now and 86 pounds... the vet said the other day that he's at the right weight for his build. |
| Our Blue weights 85. His dad was 89 and mom 85. Sammi our female is taller and leaner and weights 100. Her parents her 74 and 85. I remeber her weighting 55 pounds at 10 months. |
