Edgar is not happy

I don't think that Edgar really likes having another dog sharing his house with him. When we got Aggie I thought that he would be delighted as he is always running up to other dogs. Lee and I both agree that he seems less happy and liked being an only dog better.

I think that it has also been tough on him that he is no longer allowed upstairs to sleep on the bed. We don't have walls upstairs at the moment and we don't want him accidentally falling down to the first floor. Combined with that he got shaved due to the pitch and mats he acquired outside while the house work was going on. He is cold and spends his time cuddled up to the fire. He doesn't have stuffies to play with anymore because Aggie destroys them all. It's been a rough month on him.

Is there any way to cheer him some? I gave him a green mohawk but I think that it cheers me up more than him. Edgar and Aggie both seem to spend an equal amount of time being bozos to each other.

Chewie loves it when I go do stuff with only him.
As of the moment , we are up to 9 dogs (daughter Lisa going to GA to visit her BF for a week and we are babysitting her dog too).

Taking him outside and doing obedience, agility course work or carting make him SSOOOOO happy!

He just gave Lisa's friend Mandy (from Utah) a cart ride, and he is so proud :D
They even took video on her phone and plan on posting it on FB. Mandy now wants to move to MN, Chewie thinks he has a new best buddy! :D

I also think the house reno's are having a big impact on him too. These guys can really get bummed, and losing bedroom priveleges too (even for his safety) can be enough to put them in the pits. Poor boy :(
I always make sure to do things seperately with the dogs and that seems to make them happiest. Even if its a walk by themselves and a little doodling in the front driveway.
I thought Rastus (dalmo) would be thrilled when I got Tiggy as he soooo loved playing with other dogs at the park. But no, he was really peeved about it. :(

It took me a few months to get it (just slow) but now at least three out of four walks are solo and he is much happier. He even started to play with Tiggy once I got that sorted out.

It takes more time to walk them separately but Rastus is a much happier dog.
Hmmmm......mine have always been "the more the merrier" luckily. I do make an effort to do individual things with them even if it is a walk with one on Monday & the others get grooming time later that evening. I'll also rotate who gets to come up in the office with me while I do evening work & who stays in the family room with DH.
hmmmm, this makes me reconsider getting another dog. Sunny loves other dogs, but I wonder if she would resent her place as top dog being disrupted. Huh. Something to consider.
