Those DARN FLEAS!

*&%#*@ FLEAS!
Awhile back I posted that I thought Keira might have fleas. The answer was a resounding yes.

We have been battling these buggers for about 3 weeks now. First we got all the dogs flea baths, and "cleaned" the house for the little jerks. We did this 2 weeks in a row...and still they just keep coming back, making the dogs (and us) miserable.

Yesterday we did the flea powder thing. Dogs and cats. We totally de-fleaed the house. Bleaching and cleaning everything. Spraying the carpet and the furniture. They all seem just as miserable this morning.

I went on the Drs. Foster and Smith website this morning and ordered Frontline Plus. I know I can't treat them until next weekend again, so hopefully it will arrive in time.

We are all losing our minds. Why are these creatures so darn stubborn? Any suggestions as to giving everyone some relief?

I don't regularly treat the dogs (I will now) since in all the years I've had dogs we've never had fleas. The groomer said this has been a horrible flea season.

I'm willing to try anything you can suggest. Thanks all.

Fleas' life cycle makes one time cleaning almost useless. With the eggs and new hatch you have to conquer each new generation before it starts reproducing. Frontline is one tine to the flea fork, you'll be paying attention to the carpets, dog bedding, baseboards, furniture for awhile longer.

Sorry they found you.
Rarely do we have a flea problem here, too cold for them most of the time I think, but sometimes one gets brought home from a show or something or if I've taken in a foster (Abby a few years ago was loaded with fleas) then everyone in the house gets a dose of Advantage and poof! problem solved.
I prefer Advantage over Frontline because it only treats fleas, not ticks or worms etc that we don't need to treat for. The fewer chemicals the better IMO
Get everyone out of the house and use a flea bomb. It's the only thing I found that worked, killed eggs too. It will get rid of the spiders that are starting to come in with the cold weather.
Deb,
We have used Bug Off Garlic(thanks Kristine) since June and
have not had to treat with any topicals.
You mix it in their food once a day to repel little buggers.
It is cheap!!!
I get it through www.springtime.com
and since I have ordered from them it has been on sale!

Good Luck!!
To break the cycle, use a product with Lufernon in it. Any flea that bites a treated dog will produce eggs that will not hatch, ending the problem in one generation for sure.

Of course also continuing the topical treatments and cleaning to rid the environment of the current generation won't hurt.
