Humping

Oh goodness... we haven't had this until just a few days ago when Yuki got a bath. It was like something sparked those hormones and Mequpak had to tap that ....uh, girl dog of mine. ;)

Does it slow down? It's 24-7 ........literally!!!!!!!!!! The boy can't sit down anymore. When he's not doing that, he's licking her all over instead of the typical biting. I don't know what happened. It really seems like a new boy who just discovered himself. I know it's just a dominance thing, but I was happy to say he thought he was a girl up till this point.

Lil J is coming up to me telling me "Look, it's ko-buck's wee again.." or "look yuki's washing ko-buck [get the visual...]" Let's all turn our heads now kids. I knew there was a reason I didn't want a male. Ick!

Tell me this goes away by the time they turn 1y and 1 month b/c that's around the corner for us. 8)

Huh...
With all the licking you mentioned, I wonder how much is dominance.
Could Yuki have something else going on like a UTI or infection?

I would think infection too...
His licking could mean she has an infection? Interesting.. He's not licking her goods. That's what she does to him. He just licks her face, legs, or really b/c I've yelled at him for mounting.
Hmmm... but I already said that

You might supervise while he has a leash on and make a correction
to get his attention if he won't listen to "off" or "leave it". I'd be telling
Yuki to leave it too! You might try to redirect the behavior to
something more humanly acceptable.
I would change the shampoo. And I'm sure there are people who would buy it from you
Here's a variety of kinda random thoughts....Did you use some new shampoo/conditioner/whatever in Yuki's bath that might...taste good??

The odd thing to me, is that yeah, humping can be a dominance thing, but licking (especially around the face) is just the opposite! :?

My boy Bert will lick (usually Scott and I...ugh) if he is feeling anxious. Maybe her smelling different freaked him out? Could it be that he doesn't quite realize that she's still the same Yuki and needs to reestablish everything?

How is Yuki reacting to the humping? If Bert were to do that to Abby, she'd put him back in his place pretty darned quick! 8O

No, not necessarily. Sometimes the submissive dog will lick the jowls of the more dominant dog to kind of "show respect."

It sounds to me like he likes the taste of the shampoo and it's making him excited.
The only sure fire way to make him quit (humping, that is) is for Yuki to tell him off. If she doesn't, chances are he'll keep doing it when he feels insecure or excited.

You can tell him to stop and he'll probably listen to you and then as soon as you turn your back, it's off to the races

My neutered male does this too. Only to one of his sisters; ironically the most dominant bitch I've ever owned. The rest of my bitches all told him at their earliest convenience and in no uncertain terms that they will remove his face if he as much as looks at them cross-eyed. I backed them to the hilt.

After being told once, he never tries it with that particular bitch again.

That's actually what I was trying to say  Humping: "Im the boss", Licking: "You are"....Poor Mekupak....he sound sorta confused!
okay this may be slightly off topic, but the other night I saw the oddest thing with my two dogs. They were laying on the floor and Marley was licking Morgan's chin. Now anyone who knows my dogs will be just as shocked as I was. I really just sat there staring at them and thinking this is so odd!!

Last night she started doing it again. Now I don't go in for all the dominance theory - it is really based on poor science (I treat the closest dog first, or the one who sits quickest etc), but i do know the dogs always lick the true alpha in our pack - the Irish Setter. Her licking Morgan is just sooooo out of character.

As for humping - never been much of a problem here, more so now with Morgan And B trying to out macho each other - but I don't put up with it in my presence (and they are never together unsupervised because they are too big to trust not to move furniture or knock things over)
Dominance-schnomiance.

Sybil, AKA the resident diva :roses: , snuggles up with and cleans the face of the lowliest member of the clan, her brother, all the time. Belle still cleans her daughter's face (her daughter is nine  ) She finally stopped trying to clean her butt when she was about seven (!!) and had puppies of her own

Some times it almost seems maternal. I know, scary thought

Who knows?

I'm sorry! I misunderstood. Didn't mean to be an annoying corrector!

thank you - but you know the idea of Marley being maternal is pretty odd too don't you think

It am watching for signs of a body double
I'm definitely there every time this has happened and he barely gets to mount before I'm right there. My word just ain't good enough compared to the joys of jumping Yuks. He's a guy!!!

Yuks is clearly dominant normally, and Mequpak clearly acts submissive when they play and with those in the home (maybe some question to who is dominant when he plays with the kids).

It would be nice if yuki did make it clear she doesn't like it. She just keeps walking away and growls. Hardly a scary one though. I've seen her bite him a few times for serious offenses (she got bit hard), but then she feels HORRRRRRRIBLE as she does when she hurts anyone in our family (steps on them) and starts wiggling her tail super fast and licking him nonstop. I've only seen it happen a few times but the problem is ...I probably get annoyed before they do, so they hear my voice first.

I'll try to let them work it out. I was just trying to stop things before what he does becomes a habit!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, yes it was a new shampoo/smell on Yuki. I guess this means I shouldn't try any doggie colognes. ;)
So far I haven't had Langley try it with Laila he is more of a pillow man :) she humps him all the time. He will be 9 months at the end of the month I think our guys or close in age. I haven't had Langley fixed yet haven't seen a reason yet. I usually tell Laika to knock it off or she gets to excited.
