Excitement in car!

My beautiful dog has been very easy to train, on the whole (although I am still working on some things!) She has been used to car journeys from a small puppy and would sit happily in the back, however, for the past year (she is 2 years old) she has become increasingly worse at the start of a trip, crying and bouncing around. This has now extended to whenever the car slows down especially when the indicator is going! I have tried everything I could think of to curb this behaviour from speaking calmly to make her sit or lay down to stopping the car and smaking her nose. All to no avail!

Any suggestions on how I can get a nice calm dog back again?

We use a car harness for Woof - It's brilliant. Like other types of harness it does up round the tummy, across the chest and round the neck - all of which connects to a strap at the rear (which in turn clips to any rear seat belt.

This allows Woof to sit / stand / lay down on the back seat, but not to move around freely. The really clever bit however, is that just in training him to be still when putting it on, he knows he's going on a trip, and as such, behaves as soon as the harness is put on - good eh?
We also use a car harness for our OES MAddie. It is wonderful! She used to explore the car, and made me real uneasy as I drove. With the harnmess on she just sprawls out on the back bench and takes it easy. she loves going places adn all I have to say is put your harness on and she lifts her feet and puts her head right though :D
