Not a dog but the entire rescue

Where do I start? Colorad OES rescue needs help. Bette Green has done a miraculous job of keeping Colorado OES resuce running, especially when considering how few volunteers she has. The rescue is small but has managed to help/place many dogs throughout the Rocky Mountain region.

She recently agreed to take in a breeding pair from a puppy mill. The extrodinary cost to bring the sweet babies back to health has all but drained the rescues resources. Because of the financial strain CO OES rescue cannot accept new dogs.

Bette desperately needs volunteers. She has shouldered the majority of the rescue chores which takes a toll on her health. The rescue is looking at many avenues to pursue funding, but again, it takes time and volunteers to make it happen.

If we can't make a difference by spring, the resuce will be unable to continue in it overwhelmingly important mission. The Rocky Mountain region is huge. Not having a resuce in the area will leave many OES to local small town shelters or worse.

Please if you are in the region and can lend a hand call Bette! If you have ideas for funding, are adept at finding grants, or just want to make a donation, call Bette, PLEASE! :plead:

Bette's ChaCha is Chewie's relative as well - an auntie!
Is Bette running "Old English Sheepdog Rescue of Colorado, Inc"? Does it have a 501 (c)(3) status yet?

And ChaCha's breeder happens to be a genius at shaking people down, eh, I mean fundraising. I'll have her call Bette.

Now, volunteering from the upper Midwest is a different matter  I know Colorado is huge, but hopefully we have some kind members nearbye? :plead:

Bette's awesome. Even if it wasn't for such a good cause I'd do anything I can to help her.

Good! Thought I was losing my mind. I love the website design, so have spent some time perusing it, and I'm pretty sure the 501(c) status is right there on the site.

They've run into some really expensive cases before where she's simply sent out appeals for funds to friends and "family", but this sounds a lot more serious than that :(

I don't know what has been done in the past, but the phone call with Bette this evening broke my heart. Bette works way to hard to make all this happen. I wish I were in Colorado to help more.
That is really a nice website!

If anyone here wants to donate, you can do so online here:
http://www.oesrescueofcolorado.org/donate.html

You can also order an OES cookbook for $15:
OES Cookbook

OES Rescue of Colorado now has their own 150 page cookbook for sale. Everything from soup to nuts to desserts is included. A bargain at $15.00, and especially handy for those last minute gifts with the Holidays around the corner. Lots of pictures of Sheepdogs.

Send your order to Bette Green, 4360 Wileys Road, Peyton, CO 80831
I will donate $500
I had no idea how desperate things were. I haven't been on in a while.
I will call Bette this morning and make arrangements for a donation. I hope it will do some good.
I will also call Bette to see if I can be of some use in Phoenix, AZ.
Best Regards,
Since I hope Bette is going to get overwhelmed with calls to
help, can somebody find out if you can pay pal money to order
cookbooks also?

I think they would make great holiday gifts too!

I am sure there is nothing way over here we can do to volunteer
BUT, if the need arises we are here to help her!

I wish them lots of luck!

Yes, the site is set up to accept PayPal. In the description line note that you are ordering a cookbook.

Once we can get the rescue back on it's paws finacially, we will start focusing on volunteers. Bette just told me Joe, her right hand man and one of the greatest guy's you will ever meet had to enter the hospital to have a pacemaker inserted. When it rains, it pours.

Thanks for the support!!! :hearts:
Can we crosspost to different places for them???
Like say, Facebook?

Thanks Dorothy! Hope all is well with your beautiful Plato. Any and all donations are a blessing.
Geez, I hope everyone can forgive my spelling in the original post. It was late and I was upset.
Scratch that... I deleted my usual long rambling post.

First, is Joe going to be ok?
Ooooo. :( He's such a good guy.

Second, it's not much but might the item at the link below help out a little? I completed an OES ornament design of a puppy sitting a little while ago. I haven't sculpted for years but started again this summer because several OES rescues are struggling. I haven't offered any of them yet but had hoped to soon...

I'm trying to legally find away to benefit rescue more. If I sell the items, I pay income tax on it so it cuts into what I can donate. If I donate them to a 501c3 rescue and they sell it, it's all profit. Could I send maybe a dozen to see if OES Rescue of Colorado might be able to sell them? Also some UNpainted ornaments so people could paint their own using acrylic paints? The design could be set aside to benefit Colorado OES Rescue for... a month or so?
Those are soooooooo cute.....
I adore my Wilby sculpture you did for us.
He hangs in the kitchen all year long!

Joe is just a wonderful fellow. It is my understanding that all went well with the procedure and Joe will be as fine as circumstances allow. He's very tired and spending time trying to get back on his feet. I hope he will be able to be part of the rescue at any level he feels comfortable with going forward. I would really miss him if not.

I think that would be wonderful! I know I'd buy one, they are adorable!
Do you know who I'd contact to make the offer?
Bette Green 719-683-4459
Betoes24@cs.com
Sorry I can't volunteer...but I can send a donation via paypal...and just did!!!!!! Keep us posted on how they are doing!!!!! :D
Jaci, the ornament is wonderful! When they get them on the site I want 2 and a cookbook as well.
Thank you... I sent her an email.
Oooh... I'm sorry, Holly. I got distracted and posted without reading what else had been posted.

Maybe contact Bette to see how she's going to offer the ornaments... she mentioned a holiday fundraiser when I wrote but maybe this means just selling them. I told her I'd send out 6 to start to see if there's any interest... I hope to ship them out to her by Monday. This puppy design will be exclusive to Colorado's rescue for a limited time.

One ornament of another design is going to be sent to NEOESR tomorrow for their upcoming auction. I think I have until the 21st to get it to them. Panda's donating it because she's a 2005 NEOESR rescue doggy.
Make sure you let us know when they are available. If they need anything for an auction send her my way too.
Just a thought, would it be possible for the rescue to put a post here (or maybe in general chat) so we could order the cookbook and ornaments at the same time? Ron, would that be against the rules?
I'm a little behind in updates, it's a travel week in rainy LA. I spoke with Bette this evening. Thanks to everyone that has gotten in touch with suggestions and donations. We have a long road to recovery, but a lot of determination and welcome any suggestions/recommendations.

This year has been particularly hard as we lost several of the small grants that could be counted on previously. I'm sure this has been happening across the board for rescues. Coupled with medical costs, well here we are.

I suggested Bette place the ornaments on the web site in addition to using them for the holiday fund raiser. I'll let everyone know when they are for sale. If you order a cookbook using paypal on the site, remember to put a note in the description section that the money if for a book, otherwise it would appear to be a donation.
Just wanted to follow up for the people who expressed an interest in "buying a puppy"
I'm not sure how Bette is going to offer them but I shipped
a dozen puppies to her on the 16th... two different poses-

100% goes to rescue :hearts:
Jaci, shouldn't you post that in the "getting a puppy" section? :sidestep:

I was going to post that I had turned over a litter of puppies to rescue 8)
Oh, would I be in trouble...
When people ask me what I charge for a painting I usualy say nothing but a donation to an OES rescue would be appreciated ,
if I do any in the next while I will say a donation to Colarado OES Rescue would be appreciated
and now I'm off to make a donation, buy a cookbook and one of 6girls puppies :lol[/b]
Jaci how does one go about buying one of your puppies from Colarado OES Rescue (the stationery kind  ) Please and thank you :D

Finally caught up with Bette. Jaci's litter will be posted on the CO OES site hopefully this week at a donation price of $15. If you would like to order before they are posted, use the donation form and make a note of which ornament and how many in the comment section.

Thanks so much to those that have donated. CO OES rescue isn't out of the woods yet, so please remember them when considering your year end charitable giving.

Thanks Jean for considering CO OES rescue as a benefactor of your wonderful artistic talent. :D
Thanks for helping rescue!

If by chance Colorado finds good homes to adopt those 12, let me know. I can probably get another dozen out in a week or so. I don't want to overstep my bounds but some measurements and info should be shared before they are purchased...

This first batch is numbered #2 - #7 for each style... well, kind of scribbled actually on the back. The #1 decoration, the first in series, always goes to the person who took the photo or created the drawing.

Old English Sheepdog puppy ornaments have been hand cast in a somewhat flexible, vinyl-type material, then hand painted with acrylic paints. Each is a casting reproduction from one of our original sculptures.

- Old English Sheepdog "Sitting Pretty" measures approximately 1 7/8" x 1 5/8".
- Old English Sheepdog "Puppy Bows" measures about 2 1/4" x 1 1/4".

These are flat-one-side ornaments that arrive attractively gift boxed. Note that decorations are not suitable for back lighting due to the opaque casting material. For decorative use only, not a toy. Keep out of children's and pet's reach. Each decoration is sold separately. When not in use, wrap each decoration individually in tissue paper and store in a dry place. Avoid excessive heat. A few designs from several years ago- http://evergreenclassics.com
Some were available at Bronner's Christmas Wonderland in the late 90s.
Volunteers!!! That's what CO OES Rescue will need once it gets back in the black. Any support, home visits, transport, fosters, paperwork, anything will help. Volunteering really doesn't take a lot of time to produce a huge return for the resuce.

:plead: :plead: :plead: Please. :plead: :plead: :plead:
I've been so busy this week I haven't had a chance to visit the CO OES rescue facebook page until a couple minutes ago. Know what I found? A bunch of forum members signed up and offering to lend a hand. You guys are the greatest! :aww: :aww: :aww:
Hi Everyone, I can see again  and I received my cookbook and just to let you all know it is GREAT
Just in time to SEE how good the cookbook is. :D
I just am catching up on the forum and got tears in my eyes from this post. You guys are all amazing!! Thank you all for brightening my day. Your generosity to those that posted with offers of help to the others who are willing to buy the products to help out this rescue...simply wonderful!

Marianne
Just posted on e-bay, a beautiful original drawing. All (100%) of the proceeds go to CO OES Rescue. If nothing else go to the site and read the story the artist posted with the piece.
