Very interesting.
I did note the part about #3 - "evaluate the impact......on patients, clients and the profession."
Starting there hmmmmmm good luck with the fight, amazing how it creeps into countries via a round table discussion

I believe NZ still can do there after another round of battles with the AR groups and government. Also NZKC has set up an accredited dockers scheme as a lot of vets over there are refusing to do it now.

Good luck with it all.
Just out of curiosity I wonder what percentage of a vets income is docking and cropping?

I would assume very little, which makes it even more ridiculous that they'd get involved in this. I just don't think it's their place to make that decision.
I personally have always banded the tails of my puppies, and I know almost all breeders here in Ontario do the same. Vets not docking will not affect us who band however I am concerned that this is the first step to a complete docking ban.
I do my own pups as well, banding, but I think this will mean not being allowed to show docked breeds within 2 or 3 years unfortunately.
People should know that NY state has this back again in the assembly. Anyone who is interested should go to the bills on the docket in NY. I sent in my letter to my representative. I got a notice at the last show I went to. Certainly want this to go away.

Well its not going to go away - but at least in NY we can be assured it will languish anywhere form 5 to 20 years before anyone acts on it. - Did I say that out loud?
I dont think vets make much in their practices for docking, no ear cropping never been allowed here or in NZ, what has been passed here is after initial full set of puppy core vacs followed by an annual booster the following year the AVA has finally approved a vaccination protocol, after that every 3 years which there still disputing, not all vets will take on the newer vacs protocol as it will affect the bread and butter income for many vets not getting people in annually for vacs and a checkup. Bout time we caught up here with some sort of protocol on vaccinations just hoping vets will make this new vac protocol known to their clients..

I prefer banding when we could do it, good on NZ with their accredited dockers scheme, means those that dont know how to with banding will be trained or someone in the know & on the register can be referred to those needing it done so all is done appropriately and with experience. :D
