How long does it take?

I hate the idea of shaving Remy down....but for convience these next couple muddy months I might just have to. Has anyone ever just shave the legs down, and left the back, neck and head med length?

How long does it take to regrow it back? It pains me to think of her not in a beautiful coat, but I can't keep up with mud...it's a lose lose situation :)

It grows back about an inch a month. Is there anywhere you can let her out that isn't too muddy? Maybe train her to stay at the door on a mat when she comes in until she is dry, and then brush it out? Our yard is going to be a muddy mess too, but I have trained the girls to go at the grassy/gravel area at the end of our driveway, which is the beginning of the backyard. Easier clean up too.
Nope not my yard. Last fall I dug a corner section and planted Spruce Trees, I didn't have time to recover the ground. I haven't decided on rocks or bark. So I have one big mud hole. Also she likes to go in the dirt, and all our walking trails are natural. I use the sidewalks but it's pretty boring, and very icy right now.

I have her jacket for those long walks.

I trimmed her legs and belly down tonight, and left the rest, It looks silly but so far she is staying cool and clean. I might take her to a groomer and have them puppy cut her.

An inch a mth is pretty good, but the time it dries up she should be back to full length.
I hated cutting mine down also but it is more practical. For muddy feet you can try boots; my dogs would only wear them at shows to keep their feet clean but hated every minute they were on.
How about teaching Remy to wipe her paws? That's saved us a lot of trouble when they go and play in the muddy park after it's been watered.

Just lay a towel on the floor, and while you make her go in circles on the table say something like "Wipe your paws!" while she spins, then a treat. After a few repetitions they get the idea.
Saulmar that's a great suggestion.
I have trained her to WAIT on command, and then I can wipe, before she would just bolt up on the carpeted stairs, or run through the kitchen to the living room. I am making progress.

We do have boots, I do use those for our reg walks, but it is inconvienent for quick trip to the backyard. I might just have to suck it up and put them on anyways.

I look forward to the day we get laminate put in.
