Dancer

Well, it's been a couple days and I still don't know that I can really post about it.
On Oct 1st after a visit and consult with yet another vet I had to make the hardest decision ever and let her go.
We still had no answers, the vets all believe it was either a cancer in her stomach/intestines that we couldn't see yet or an auto immune disease that presented abnormally. We didn't do a biopsy because we didn't think she would survive the procedure, something that was actually proven correct when we let her go. She never would have tolerated the anesthetic.
She began having seizures a week ago, first one that was minor but still scary, then another on Thursday morning.
No medication was helping, no pain med was making it easier for her to move around with the cold weather settling in now so even though it was so SO hard I do believe I did the right thing.

She was only 6 years old, but her six years with me were a gift. I loved her so much. I sat with her til the end with her favorite blankie that she loved to suck on and told her I was sorry and I loved her.

I saw your name come up and my heart just dropped. I'm so sorry.

It could indeed have been (intestinal) lymphoma. Difficult to accurately diagnose, and generally involves doing so for no sensible reason given the outcome either way. You did the kindest thing and I know you know that, but I also know how much it must hurt.

Godspeed, Dancer. Till you meet again.

I am so sorry. Dancer knows you did what was best for her & that you tried as hard as possible to find an answer. Sometimes the answer is letting them go.
:ghug:
Stacey, I'm so sorry for your loss of Dancer. I know how frustrated you've been with trying to get a diagnosis for her, but I also believe you did the kindest thing you could for her. Your love for her shows in your words, and you'll be in my thoughts as you grieve. :ghug:
Oh my god, not what I expected to read this morning. I don't know if I realized how serious it was when reading your posts.... I'm so so sorry that you guys were suffering through that.

You got Dancer around the time I got Walter, so she kind of grew up with him. She was such a beautiful little girl.

I hope the rest of your pups are making this a little easier on your. Hang in there, we are definitely thinking of you and your fam.
I'm so sorry. Six years is not long enough. She might have had a malfunctioning valve somewhere, a genetic malformation of a chemical system, there's just no knowing. Even an autopsy might not have found the cause.

She did love you with all her heart and you in return. Can we ask for more than that?

I'm sorry for your loss.
Oh, no. I'm so sorry. I didn't realize things had progressed to this point. I feel so badly for you. I know how tough of a decision it must have been and how you must be feeling. You guys are in our thoughts...
I'm so sorry for your loss of Dancer.

Stacey, I am so sorry.

I know that you made the best choice for Dancer, just as we did for Bennett. Not the easy chocie, but the best choice. I hope this can comfort you a little.
Stacey, I know that Dancer was your first foundation girl and how much you loved her. I am so sorry for your loss.
I am sorry for the loss of your beautiful Dancer. By the way I always liked her name I can see her dancing among the stars. It is so hard to say goodbye when we have had them for such a short time. My thoughts are with you.
Heartbreaking news. I am so sorry that her beautiful life was cut short. Not knowing the reason must be torture. You have my deepest sympathies.

Well that was the intention but thankfully Dancer never had pups. She wasn't my first oes, but she was most definitely my first "heart" dog.
I miss her like crazy.

Willy is such a sensitive boy, he knows I've been sad and seems to know the worst moments too, he brings me stuffed toys and blankets and puts them on my lap.

Winston, my cat, is also sensitive to me but the old boy misses Dancer too. They were buddies. Winston has been finding Dancer's things, leash, blankets, toys, and dragging them all upstairs to the bathroom and laying on them. :(
:(

Oh Stacey, I am just now seeing this and feel so bad about your loss.

:ghug: :ghug: :ghug:

Reading about her with her blankie brought tears to my eyes. You will be in our thoughts and prayers.

May your memories of your sweet girl sustain you at this difficult time.

awee... that makes me so sad to hear. I'm glad you have willy! Hopefully Willy isn't doing the same thing with Winston as he does with you b/c I got a feeling it won't comfort him. ;)
Stacey - I am so very sorry for your loss. I cannot begin to imagine how difficult this is for you. My sincerest condolances.
So sorry Stacey...it's so hard to lose them so young.
Oh...I am so sorry for your loss, I don't always look at this post because it always tears me up inside because I relive my own pain from 10 months ago. You did what you had to do and Dancer will be happily waiting for you to collect her one day. Hug to you and your family :ghug:
Oh no. I'm so sorry. :(
Oh No! I'm so sorry to hear this news. After six years on the forum, sharing stories of our pups and later on, their adventures, trials and tribulations..I felt I knew Dancer. I'm really sad over her loss. She had a wonderful home with so much love.

RIP Dancer and may you be playing happily at the bridge.

Marianne
