At what age is it normal for the black to start turning gray?

It can vary a great deal, some really early and some really late, no time frame  Some can also stay quite dark with no real change from the pupper colour.

In all of mine a huge time frame with them changing to the lighter junior coat. One I thought would never she was over 4 years when she finally went light grey and well over 6 before the final mature coat bloomed through. There all different as to when they start coat transitioning.

Way to know it is happening the matt fairies are breeding big time in the coat. 8)
My Asterisk started her change very young. First her ankles on her rear legs went from black to silver grey at 4 months old. Her entire body went light grey with black tips at 8 months. We had her shaved at 9 months due to matting.

She is now 17 months old and is this very light grey all over except her elbows are still black. I don't know if she has a normal transition of color, but it was quick.
Winston's ear changed at about 9 mnths. Now he is 16mnths old and the silver is just starting to come through, though he really is still quite dark.
