Type of food

Guys... what type of food do you use for your dogs? Which one do they like better? I was feeding eukanuba to my dog but a friend recommended me Pro-plan.. both dry... but he seems to like better the soft one....

We started Woof out on Purina Pro-Plan puppy food - with a little water to moisten it up, and then Lactol Puppy Milk at supper time with a Farley's Rusk. At six months he's now on Pro-plan adult - but we're solwly adding in Baker's Complete (also by Purina) for a bit of variety, as Woof seems to be bored of the other stuff.

At 6 1/2 months he's now a whopping 63 lbs (and no fat), so we must be doing something right....
I bet you´re doing something right!!!
Lennon is now 3 months old and he only weights 10 pounds (pretty skinny right?). The vet recommended vitamins (Equilibrium-calcium, by bayer) and with the combination of eukanuba + proplan (we are trying to change his food) plus a little bit of pedigree canned food (to add flavor) he seems to be recovering his appettite.... hope he gains some weight!!!
Thank you for your help!
I feed Bentley a natural diet--raw meat, veggies, some fruit rice etc...
Prescribed by an animal nutritionist. He loves it! If you're interested there are some good books on this particular method. I know it's not for everyone but it's been great for Bent and his huge appetite. His weight is great and stamina is--whew!
I´d love to hear some recomendations. I started feeding him canned food combined with dry food, but he only licks the dry food and eats the canned... then I put the dry food in the blender and I combined it with the canned food so he cannot eat only the canned food... and this seems to work but i don´t want to feed him the same stuff every single day...and it seems that he doesn´t like it either. Besides, he loves fruit like mangoe, pinneaple and watermelon.... the vet says it´s ok, but I dont know how much.....
We used to use about a cup of chicken broth in with his high quality dry kibble. He would drink (lick) all the broth, then devour his kibble.
An average meal for bentley is 4 chicken thighs, a handful of baby carrots,
a couple of slices of apple, some broccoli, a multi-vitamin, and a cup of rice with some(beef or chicken) broth sprinkled over the top. I alternate the chicken with other cuts of meat, like lamb, beef or pork. I don't want to seem nuts--this is not as hard as it sounds :) He just seemed so ravenous on the dry, and this way the portions are big and satisfying.
8O Wow Kandraeq!!!! So that´s why your OES is so beautiful???!!! But it looks a little bit too complicated for someone like me that works the whole day.... and I really can´t prepare the food until night... but i´ll try it in the afternoon when i get home!!!... it is ok if I give him that diet being 3 months old?
And Ron, I took your advise yesterday and he just loved it!... Lennon did the same thing as your OES... he drank all the broth, then ate his food (and I added few pieces of chicken)... and asked for more!!!
Once puppies are weaned they can begin this diet(just like they eat dry/canned food) Dogs are fed largely by weight so a ten pound dog would eat 1/2 cup of meat 1/2 tbs of veggies fruit. I know it seems complicated-- but the way I feed, the dogs need to eat only 1 meal per day--I usually bag all the food Sunday for the week. So I cook all the rice, the veggies are fresh and the chicken is raw --so I put them in zip-loc bags in the fridge and serve 'em up each day. I always keep the food they eat on hand and it takes less than 5 minutes to throw it together-really! Especially if I don't get around to pre-bagging. The book I used for some great help feeding natural is by Kymythy R. Schultze, "Natural Nutrition for Dogs and Cats" It offers great tips, menus and nutritional guidelines. It was designed to lengthen the lives of large breed dogs and feed them according to their true carnivore selves :) I am really not a crazy about this--this just works for me--I know it is not for everyone. I don't cast any aspersions on those who feed commercial. This is right for me and my trio :D The last chapter of the book offers amazing trestimonials from grateful dog owners--It was the best ten dollars I've spent. I hope you can find the diet right for you
Hi! I need some advice again.... I feed Lennon with the chicken broth and he loved.... the first 3 times, then he refused to eat. I have given him different kind of food but he stops eating it after few times.... is this common for OES? Do your dogs do the same? Do they like their food to be different everyday? If someone is facing the same problem i would appreciate his/her help... Thanks !!
we are wanting to switch from commercial dry to real food. does anyone use nupro? can you do dry in morning and real food at night?

I feed my dogs natural and they only eat once a day. Except when Bentley needs to carry a bit more weight. Then I supplement with an a.m. meal. Sometimes is it a higher fat dry food. Just keep in mind changing food can cause some uhh...accidents, so make sure whatever they eat they can get outside to spare the carpet:) I have never used NuPro but if it is nutritive, and the kids like it I say go for it.
