I was away this weekend and came back to a mess.
Friday nights pots still dirty on the cooktop and Tiggy hopping around on 3 legs. Evil or Very Mad Shocked It was her back foot. The toe pads all swollen especially the outside one.

So first thing this morning I made an appt with my vet. Earliest I could get in was 10.30. While I was getting some house work done ie pot washing I noticed Rastus scratching his ear. Looked in there, ewwwww, a nice infection happening. I rang the vet back but couldnt get in till 4.30pm.

I hoped that I might convince him to prescribe ear drops without seeing Rastus but my usual vet is away for school hols and the locum doesnt know me, so its back again this arvo.

Tiggy has a small split in one of her nails and the vet thinks its caused a nail bed infection. No wonder she wouldnt walk on it. She's much happier now that she's on some doggy pain killers/anti inflammatories and antibiotics. Very Happy The swelling is going down already from the anti inflams.

Now we just have to hope that both the toe and the ear infections clear up quickly. My fingers are crossed Two visits in one day is enough I'm hoping not to visit again for a long time.
Poor babies....
Happy Mending! My fingers are crossed
Sad hope they both heal up soon
Poor puppers.... hope they feel better soon! Smile
definitely 2 too many. Sad
I hope they both are feeling better. Very Happy

Hope your pups are on the mend. Mine split a nail last year and he was hurting a while but up and about quickly.

I'm curious, how did you know by looking in the ear an infection was brewing? I know if there is an odor but mine get infections and I never smell anything.
Normally the inside of Rastus's ear is a pale pink color and its fairly dry and clean.
Yesterday it was an angry red color with lots of dark brown waxy stuff and it was kind of sticky looking. But add the head shaking, the fact that he was carrying his right ear (infected one) lower than his left and that Tiggy got a BIG telling off when she jumped on his head (cause she loves him and is a nut) and I didnt even need to look really.
Sad

Hugs to the sick doggies.

It really is too bad that they could not handle both dogs at one time.

I thought perhaps you were going to have something extracted from Tiggy's bottom. Wink

Hope both the doggies are OK now, is tiggy walking OK on her sore paw now? If wet outside try popping just the one soft bootie on her just for when she goes outside, might stop muck getting around her sore tootsie. Wink
Its amazing what 3 days of anti inflammatories can do.
The toe is just a teensie bit swollen and she's not limping at all now.
She is mad and crazy though because no exercise other than her trip to the vet. Excited Evil or Very Mad
