Dust storm :(

I'm was sick of hearing about yesterday's dust storm in every conversation and news bulletin (http://www.smh.com.au/photogallery/environment/dust-turns-sydney-sky-red/20090923-g0tw.html?selectedImage=0) and was quite happy to drop the subject, but today Bally trotted into my study after a morning of eating his bone out on the grass.

My dog is orange 8O

Why didn't I think of that???????!!!!!!!!!!:twitch:

I have to add that I spent all of yesterday carefully keeping him inside and only letting him out for a wee break, after which his paws were carefully washed and toweled. Honestly, I surprise myself with my useless memory sometimes.
ummm pictures?
 Our camera has been dead for months and the webcam turns everything weird colours anyway.
Darn it I wanted to see an Orange Bally 8O

Dust storms were bad in Sydney, glad I dont live there, amazing seeing or should I say not seeing the harbour bridge, on the TV looked like just a big red fuzzy nothing.

Amazing the people that thought a giant bush fire was around the sky certainly did glow red for most of the day.

Hope people with breathing problems are doing OK, darn that red centre dirt.!!

Remember in melbourne when dust storms from the centre hit here back in the early 1980's, good lord you ate it, it was everywhere and so scary when in converged on melbourne, I was outside and just saw this enormous black thing coming over the hill and thought hell what's that?
Remember it well, glad it missed us and headed up the east coast instead :P
Geesh no pics of orange Bally!
My dogs come in all colors of dirt here!
I can't think Bally would be anythign less than cute!
(of course I am not cleaning up his mess)
Those are wonderful pictures.........well.......discounting the health dangers to all. Bally the Giant Orange Sheepdog..........sorry you don't have pictures.
I heard about it yesterday here in Nova Scotia. The pictures are awesome.
OMG what is a dust storm like? I take it NO ONE can go outside? Did they cancel schools? Boy I feel bad for the farm animals and wildlife
I too would have liked to see an orange sheepie
Boy was I glad when the dust disappeared :D everything is covered in dust so now I've got hours of cleaning to do  there is a fine layer of dust everywhere, my blue car is brown now 8O
I kept Sammy inside with me most of the day but I had to go into town which is 12 miles away so he came with me so his coat isn't too bad thank heavens. I keep hearing reports that there may be more dust storms this week but not as bad as this one.

My youngest son has bad asthma so he had problems with the dust and is still feeling the effects, his school was told to keep him inside until it was time for me to pick him up but his PE teacher didn't get the message so they had him outside, thankfully another teacher who knows his has asthma corrected the situation - my son did tell the teacher about his asthma but the teacher didn't listen to him :x
I thought it was a bush fire for a moment too, but we had had one in Albury before we moved so I recognised it for what it was this time. They really do feel quite apocalyptic. I actually have some photos of Bally in the last one, but I don't think he turned orange that time

I'm so glad I don't have asthma, that would have been quite frightening for your son. I did have to put up with my partner complaining about his sinus though ;)

Better get round to cleaning up the previously white house... oh, and finding the photo of Bally in the last one.
Hi jean been a long time, hope you and the family are well, must of been quite scary the orange red glowing sky. Glad your son is doing OK and the other teacher realised he was outside breathing in all that red dust and had the common sense to take him back inside.

Most schools in Sydney I believe gave the parents the option of keeping them inside at home rather then trying to drive them or send them in those hazardous conditions.

Planes were diverted to Melbourne, ferry services stopped etc.

Hope you get the dust off everything soon, I know when Melbourne had the dust storm, amazing it gets into absolutely everything and months later you are still finding it in and around the home.

Another thing they said is "Change the Air Filter" in your car engines as that will be chocka block full and will affect the running & fuel consumption of your cars.
