Sick Pooh

Well, he's back at the vet's office while I am home typing. He was vomiting through the night and strained while trying to have a bowel movement this morning. However, unlike the last time something like this happened, he was able to keep water down. No greenies, no nylabones, no nothing this time. Always supervised.

So the vet decides to be safe, so orders blood work and x-rays since Pooh didn't really like her touching his belly (but didn't seem to mind when I was doing it this morning). Looks like another $300 trip to the vet!

I'll give an update later, she was swamped and asked that I leave him for a few hours. So much for my Saturday plans! I guess I can nap and try to get back some of that lost sleep!

We are so sorry to hear Pooh is at the vets office, after being ill last night.
He is in our thoughts. Please get some rest and update

I'm so sorry to hear Pooh's not feeling well again, I hope he is feeling better soon! :)
oh no...poor sweetie. I sure hope he's 100% soon!
Oh my goodness, I hope Pooh is back and feeling better than ever rapidly! Please keep us updated, I hope it's nothing serious.
Good luck to the Pooh. Please update us as soon as possible!
Hi,

Ohhh poor Pooh! I'm so sorry to hear he is not well. Like the others, I hope everything will be okay with your boy and will be thinking of you.

OK, so $500 later he's fine. had a bit of a blockage that he was able to "free" himself. Without giving the details, there was a lot of cleaning up to do. My wife is amazing. So he's back to being his bouncy self, had a bath and some Canine ID food and he's good to go! Thanks as always for the well wishes!
I'm glad to hear Pooh is ok, sorry to hear you went through all that again though. I'm wondering if he may continue to have blockages because scar tissue will form along the incisions in his intestines.
That's great news that Pooh is better !!!
Never a dull moment with these guys
Just catching on from yesterday. Poor little guy! So sorry to hear Pool was not feeling well again, but so glad to hear he's okay now. So did the vet say what the blockage was from?
Chris
Funny thing was, the vet said there was nothing. $500 to hear that there was no blockage and he must have just had a bug. Xrays, bloodwork, $65 for 14 days worth of antibiotics, special food....etc....I think i need to find another vet. This is outrageous that every time I go it costs me $300-$500. A trip to the emergency vet would have cost me less!

You might want to look into getting pet health insurance. I went with Veterinary Pet Insurance after researching through everyone's posts and got their extra coverage to cover office visits and things like that and it's only $29/month. It might be worth it if Pooh has a tendency to get sick.
I agree it may be a good idea to find another vet. Thoroughness is one thing, but dogs are dogs, they eat things that make them barf. *shrug*
I have the insurance, however they may not pay since ultimately there was "nothing" wrong as far as the vet was concerned.
I agree about the vet thing. I had a really sick cat that my former favorite vet just thought he needed an enema because he was backed uop and it turned out that he had a blockage in his colon which was diagnosed by a different vet. Needless to say, our former vet who had a great "bedside manner" goofed up on the diagnosis and the vet that I didn't think had much personality, got every single diagnosis correct from that day forward.
