Switching back to puppy food

Hi everyone, Jazzy's breeder wanted me to put more weight on him, so I switched back to puppy food with some of his regular food mixed in. I also add a cup of mac & cheese on this for the evening meal. My question is, can switching back to puppy food raise his energy levels? He has been off the wall since we started this 8O I am having a hard time keeping up with him  Any experience with this would be helpful, is there any other way to put weight on without the puppy food?

I did that with Chewie for gaining weight. It did work nicely, once I got the right mix. (It was a bit too rich, had loose poop) I used the California Natural puppy mixed in, as it had the highest kcal/cup rating of any I could find. He likes it too.

I didn't notice too much bouncing off the walls, however Chewie just isn't that sort of dog.... ( a true understatement for those that know him in person  )
He did have lots of energy though
The additional protein can add energy. Funny when Marley was about that age she got very thin down to 55 pounds from her usual 65. I added yogurt and eggs to her kibble - along with some broth. I don't think it changed anything - she just ate less. In the last year she has leveled off and actually was up to 75 pounds in the spring - the little tub :D
