female marking

two weeks ago we lost our 10 year old male golden retreiver. Since then our 4 1/2 year old female seems to be marking territory when we go out. She never did this before. I am pretty sure she doesn't have a bladder infection. Is this unusual when a male mate dies? She is sad, and that we understand..we are too

I don't have an answer for you, but I wanted to say that I'm sorry for your loss.
I have a 3-/12 year old female OES and she has always marked spots, especially if she smells something that triggers her need to mark over that smell. If another dog is near her and urinates, my OES will immediately go over and urinate at the same location. I live on a farm and occassionaly I urinate outside...my OES goes right to where I went and urinates.
