Waiting patiently for an OES Rescue

(Sorry I guess this should have been under introductions. I'll learn.) :)

Hello all. My name is Jacqui and I just joined your forum. A neighbor of mine that I just met, told me about your site and here I am.

I've contacted a New England rescue group who then referred me to a local rescue. I've been patiently waiting for our time to come.

I owned an OES about 20 years ago, but because of a divorce neither my ex-husband nor I could keep him, so I found a good home for him with friends that lived in the country. I'm sure it was a fantastic place for him, but it absolutely broke my heart. Now, I'm hoping to find a new OES friend to add to my family. I have a mixed breed female that I adopted about 8 years ago, and she's fantastic, but I'm still missing my OES. My Ginger is a bit skitish of some dogs, so I'm hoping to be able to get a male pup or young OES, because I think that will be an easier transition, but we'll see. It seems from all my reading on your site that many have found great homes through here, so my fingers are crossed.

I've also been volunteering at the CNY SPCA which is a no kill shelter. I love the work there, and am amazed at how hard the employees work at keeping the animals and their kennels clean and healthy. The hard part of volunteering of course is that I want to bring them all home. I resist though, because my heart is really with finding an OES.

I hope you'll keep me in mind if you hear of any.

Thanks!

Forgot to add...
When I lost my first sheeper Mandy in 2003 I wanted another
female.
The most perfect gal came along in a few months and New England rescue helped me get her here.
She was in Indianna and I am coastal North Carolina!

Hang in there is happens when it is right!
Welcome to the forum! Hopefully the perfect sheepie is heading your way soon :D
Welcome! :D
Welcome to our group. Hope you get a perfect OES soon.
Welcome to the forum from PA! You've been in touch with two of the best rescues around - NEOESR and (I'm assuming) Madeline in NY. Keeping fingers crossed that a fluffy pup will find it's way to you soon!

I'm so excited!!! We are adopting Traci's boy Domino!!! We will hopefully be bringing him home sometime later this week. I'm sure you'll be seeing me on here a lot more now.
I'll be sure to share pics of him too,
Hooray for you and Domino! Congrats!!
:clappurple: :go: Whoohoo!! cant wait to see pictures of your new fur kid
see ron this site does put people together !! yaaaaaaaaaa
I was going thru several rescues last night as was amazed at the lack of rescues in some areas. New England often has several, but not now. Be patient, it may be a lull before the storm.
Thank you all. Domino should be coming "home" this weekend. I'll be sure to share some pics.
He sounds totally perfect for our family. And we have a nice sized doggy yard for him to play with our other "kids" :D
The New England OES Rescue group put me in touch with a woman named Madeline that handles rescues for the Central NY area and Ohio areas. Through her I've been able to what is the perfect little guy for us. First of all, it is a male, so I expect that to make the introduction into the family a bit easier for Ginger, my shepherd mix that I adopted 8 years ago. I was hoping for an OES under a year, but was more than willing to go above that. As it turns out though, Madeline was contacted about a 6 1/2 month old that needed a new home! Amazing timing, within the week of having spoken with her! :D It turns out the owner had labeled him as a "bad dog" because of the fact that he would nip at the kids ankles. Surprise, surprise, right? They had been keeping him chained up outdoors and had been neglected. From what I've been told, he was matted so badly that he could barely walk. Needless to say, he was shaved down to the skin by the vet and appears to otherwise be in very good health. His foster mom says that he has been running around the house as happy as can be since then. So now, I'm just waiting for the final details of the travel arrangements for him, since he's coming from Cleveland Ohio. It's expected that I'll meet a "transporter" on Friday in Buffalo! I'm so excited to once again have an OES in the family. It was heartbreaking years ago when I had to find a new home for the one I had.

Thanks to all for keeping my spirits up when others didn't work out. I intend to be a regular out here as time goes on, and will be doing lots of reading in the other threads that have been posted.

Pictures to come.
