Peeing when excited

I have a new OES puppy named Clementine. She's about 12 weeks old and has been with us for 3 weeks. She is doing really well with her house training and almost never has accidents. However she just can't hold it when excited.

We tell people to wait to pet her until she sits so that has cut down on the petting induced peeing but I cannot figure out how to keep her from peeing when taking her out of her crate in the morning and after work. It's just a little tinkle but we have to pick her up right away so she doesn't do it on the floor. Soon she's going to be too big to pick up!

Any suggestions? Or do I just have to wait for her little bladder to grow?

She's still a baby! It takes time for individuals to gain muscle control. She's still getting used to you and her new environment. Give her a chance. If she's still doing this at 6 months, yeah you've got a submissive peer.
Bogey is about 4 1/2 months now and still pees when excited. Does this stop? He is housebroken but has no control when he sees someone.
The first thing we do in the mornings, before even acknowledging our puppy, is open the back door, open the cage door and out he shoots into the back garden for a jimmy (for England!). Then, when he's finished, back in he comes for an enthusiastic welcome.
We have always done this since we got him simply because he had accidents when he got excited and if we did the welcome first this is what would happen. I don't think it's unusual, and it will improve.
Nik :)
Hudson was an excitement pee-er on and off for about seven months (maybe a little more). I was horrified. The vet said it was perfectly normal.

He stopped one day, and hasn't done it about a year now (maybe a little less). Anyway, they do grow out of it. He eased off on it gradually and then suddenly we noticed he just didn't do it anymore.

At twelve weeks it's pretty common. Their tiny little bladders and tiny little muscles just need time to develop.
  Bally is 14 months and still an excited pee-er

It's not every time he sees someone, but if he meets a new dog or someone he hasn't seen in a while he does. Our old vet used to know to get the mop out before his check ups and the nurses would stuff him full of treats if he was kind enough to hold it in  Emptying his bladder before hand does nothing either, he seems to keep a special reservoir just for moments like that.

Mind you, Bally has a couple of excitement issues we're still trying to work through like crying and crying whenever he sees another person/dog because he's so desperate to play with them. Honestly, you'd think he'd never been out of his own backyard before
It does get better. 12 weeks is very young. I'd put the dog outside for a pee as soon as it is time to get up in the morning, right after eating, after naps, etc. I recently rescued a one year old OES (my 4th OES overall) and she used to pee whenever she was excited or very frightened. I just took her out as soon as I woke up, 1st thing after work and again before bedtime. I cleaned up and acted like it was no big deal. She quit peeing when excited after about 3 weeks. Good luck with puppy! =D
Another hint I thought of after my first post. Someone once told me that if you scoop up a puppy and carry them on their backs they won't pee or leak. If they can at all avoid it they'll hold it.

Trying the scoop up and cradle on their backs method might help in those excited situations, and may be especially helpful when you first take her out from her kennel. Just reach in and scoop.

I did it with Hudson whenever I wasn't sure he'd make it to the door. Worked well for him. Might be worth trying.

Good luck to you and Clementine.
Bogey is too big to scoop up. I hope he grows out of it as some of you have said.
