How weird are we?

Isnt it amazing when the highlight of the week is doggies passing a solid poop

Last week some sort of tummy bug hit Babs and with it was explosive runny poops as well as vommitting. Thank goodness I had medication to start treating her, it seemed to be a 24 hour thingy and a day or two later Syd exploded as well 8O :?

He is not like his sister who let me know day and night she needed out to explode, was talking on the phone with Mim late last week and had to hang up as I heard Brrrrrrp and when I went into Syd it was everywhere, dirty boys :P  It was HELL where do we start, the bedding the floor, the crate the dog :? EEEEWWWW Syd dont step in it your butt is bad enough

On top of two poopie explosive dogs, going both ends mummy brie is full on in heat and so is babs so syd is beside himself at the moment. (was way easier when just sheepie girls ruled :P )

Well real thrilled both are "SOLID NOW" thank gawd as I really have had a sh** (you can work out that word) time of it with cleaning butts. Sad to think such excitement when they go and all is FIRM and excitement at that is such a highlight of a crappy week

On top of the week that was on saturday #1 son had blood test results back and he has Glandular Fever so he is home from work for how long I dont know. Anyway my doggies are firm and I am soooooo happy, (pssst I know I am strange to be sooooo excited there dropping solid ones but hey after the week I have had it is cause for celebration, now once the girls are out of heat and son is back to himself life will be pretty much back to a bit of normality WOO HOO) :yay:

Life is picking up now after the week that was    .

Mim we are cracking a bottle of Vino on Saturday after the show to celebrate FIRMYS WOO HOO. 8)

I think that is a very good reason to be happy- solid poop is definitely happy poop
Yep solid poops rock. 8)

I thought explosive poop was bad in a dalmo and then I fell madly in love with a sheepie girl. Suddenly what my dogs get to eat has taken on much more importance than ever before. No longer can DH just give the dog scraps, he has to check in with the food nazi, ME!! If its too fatty or they've not tried it before then its introduce in VERY careful stages.

Thank goodness Mama Brie has displayed a cast iron constitution in the face of extraordinary provocation and no explosive poopies.

Definitely vino this weekend Lisa! I bet we're celebrating another win for my favorite sheepie boy, as well as celebrating solid poops.

Ps you're picking up the poop this weekend if its not solid.

PPS Hope your son gets better fast.
nope that's not weird at all!! solid poopin sheepies makes everyone happy!

hope your son gets better soon...
Normal poop makes us all giddy... LOL

Sorry you're having such a crappy week.... glad things are looking up. Poor Syd with the girls, is he howling?

Rotten luck for your son though, hope he's feeling better soon.
Glandular fever, had to check that.........Infectious mono is what I've heard it called up here. Yipes, that's a lousy thing to catch. Hopefully his belly and ah, gut, don't explode.

Yes, firm poopies are always a celebration especially after the week you had.
How funny! The state of Loki's poop is a daily conversation around here - Anything runny and we all go on red alert

Sorry about your week Lisa that is no fun especially for you the "clean up" crew.

But I had to laugh because Harry's poop is always a topic of conversation.
He rarely has diarrhea but his tummy can get out of sorts if he has too many goodies. So everyone in the house will discuss his poop as to whether he did it and what it looked like: "Did he poop today?" or "He pooped and it was firm" or "He pooped and it was light in color"

I never thought about it until your post but we discuss that almost like we are discussing the weather. So it looks like you are not the only weird one.

I hope your son feels better soon.

Hey Judi nice to know your household covers poop drops too

The doggies are usually always rock solid, Hubby takes the two younger ones out in the morning and I do Brie, when he comes back inside the discussion over breaky is 1. Did they do a poop? 2. How did it look? 8)

So now that is the main topic of conversation first thing at 6.30 in the morning   Then the report on Brie Happens to hubby woo hoo still dropping gum nuts.

Isnt it funny, the last few days when the doggies are outside and do that hunched over look to drop one I stand there and cringe, fingers crossed it comes out solid. :?

YAY all good so far. :excited:

Son has just been again to the doctors, if no improvement he will be put in hospital, more blood tests today and he seems to be getting worse. :( Poor baby hard when they are 25 they dont want mom fussing too much but with Glandular fever can enlarge the liver and spleen, so hoping it will all settle down soon, he also has a mouth abcess and is now on Anti-biotics to hopefully settle that down as well, if not a trip to the dentist for draining the abcess.. From what I have read on it can be months getting over it. :( Wish he was still a little fellow so I can fuss over him & just feel usefull to help him get over this :(
Lisa it sounds like #1 son has really got a bad dose.

I bet he secretly appreciates some of the fussing! Especially any fussing that involves the provision of yummy meals and picking up things he wants from the shops.

Having an asthmatic husband who hates fussing has taught me two things about caring for Aussie blokes.

1. Sound casual and offhand when you ask if they want anything (almost like you hope they'll say no) and

2. NEVER ask how they're feeling and NEVER ask anything twice, not even "do you want anything from the shops?" If you add "are you sure?" you're dead in the water, and will have no useful communication with them for at least another 24 hours while they sulk.

Hope he gets better ASAP and avoids the trip to the dentist. :crossed:
since the topic is poo I have a question............. Holly had something similar yesterday and when I got home she had it all over the livingroom and it smelled soooo bad :twitch: I borrowed my friends steam cleaner but the smell I think is still in there any ideas how to get rid of the smell??
Holly - I have tried everything, I swear!
One thing that seems to help is plain old baking soda. When it is dry, liberally sprinkle the area, and let it set and absorb. At least twenty minutes< longer is better
Then, vacuum it up. Good luck :D

On the subject of the loose poo
Daughter Lisa and I have been dog walking at the shelter when our schedules allow. Being a nurse on top of an obsessive OES poop watcher is a BAD combination. I always report back (in detail) and the girls give me a look everytime.
"Rascal pooped once and peed twice. The poop was formed" - just got a look. :)
"Selena pooped once and it was loose and clay colored" - that one got a look and a "what colored??"

Best wishes to all for good, formed poop this week!
That's the first thing I check!!! :phew:
I know more about my animals poop, than I did about my kids!! I figure that my kids could tell me when something wasn't right, but my animals I had to be more aware of! . . . . . POOP (color, shape and smell!!) is the way you know someone (dogs, horses, goat and cats!) isn't feeling well! :excited:

You are a good Mom! :yay:

Janie
OES wanta be!
Aw, Lisa! Sorry you had to face such messes with the puppers, but so glad to hear their tummies are on the mend. There is nothing worse than doggie diarhhea!

As for your son, I can sympathize. If glandular fever is indeed the same as our infectious mononucleosis, he'll be down for awhile. My daughter had it in her senior year of high school - had to keep her isolated for a bit, but being a girl, she never fretted over Mom's taking care of her! Hope your son is feeling better soon!

Hugs all the way around! :ghug: :ghug:
So sorry Lisa. I had to take Bella in for pain and she is the exact opposite. I am thinking dynamite might be necessary soon. She is getting better, but at least no mess to clean up. I swear these dogs have I.B.S. It's always something.

Glad everyone is feeling good now. Enjoy the wine.

Baking soda is good!!

Also remember that a steam cleaner makes everything damp including the air and dampness makes smells linger.
I spent ages recleaning a floor once until I gave up in exhausted in despair. As soon as the room dried out properly there was no smell. 8O
Ok glad to hear the baking soda will work b/c I rent and I dont think the land lord would like it right now if he walked in 8O It does smell alittle better today now that it has dried a bit..... why do sheepies have such tummy problems???
Some do some dont this is the first case of Watery Explosive poops I have had with Syd and Babs, normally since birth rock hard and can eat anything, cast iron guts.

Still looking at it as just a bug babs caught out and about somewhere while walking.

Son is off for more blood tests tomorrow to see how the liver is going.

Chris how long did your daughter suffer from it? I have also read diet is important on the recovery from it, that is no fatty foods or anything that can affect the liver. Relapses are ongoing apparently. :(

YEP ooorooing the last 3 nights because of Brie and he is spot on too for keeping her well away from him, it would be Mating time with her, eating, not eating I think his hormones are in overdrive at both girls being in, still have another 2 weeks to go with babs. We hopefully shall survive one neurotic sheepie "BACHELOR" boy

Dad just took him this morning to the farm this morning for a few days away from tempting sheepie floozies. 8) YAY so quite now in the house with no Grunting and Oooroooing.

Gotta luv a hormonal sheepie boy in "Overdrive" NOT!!!! Feel sorry for him at the moment though with all this going on in the house and him being well seperated from the girls, poor lil man cant understand why he cant be near them :( 8) 8) 8)
I think I already told the board about Patch and her (if you'll excuse me) brown fountain; it was HORRIBLE. I have never seen a dog that ill. I totally undersatand the mess on the walls, carpet, wood floor, dog bed, doors, windows, etc. It was toxic. And the smell made my eyes water, it was so bad. The poor dog was miserable. I took her to dining with your dog this past summer and the calamari, duck, and sweet potato dog food served almost killed her. So I know EXACTLY what you are talking about when you see the first solid 'do in a week - I almost had a celebration. :rimshot: So happy your dog is much better.
There was always a celebration at our house when Sammy had a solid poop after her runny episodes. Plus a few prayers of gratitude. Hubby would call several times from work enquiring if it had turned solid. If people overheard our conversations, they would think we were bonkers. Good to know we are in good company.
I'm glad I am not the only one discussing dog poops

My two sons are always grossed out by hubby and mine conversation, especially at 6.30 in the morning 8O . The usual which has been going on for years...... Was it Solid, Was it a Mr.Whippy, did they go this morning etc etc etc 8)

Solids are a cause for celebration WOO HOO especially after explosive ones, thank gawd brie never joined her kids, two butts were enough to clean up last week. :?
Because it impacts our lives! Poopy butt = danger to carpeting, furniture, floors, walls......smelly, disgusting, must be cleaned, how?-back into shower, wipe off, bathtub, clip or no clip.......and the CAUSE: possible swallowed foreign object, poison, food allergy, bacteria, bad food, CURE: vet visit, home remedies.......it's a mind numbing experience.
