Thinning shears

| Thinning shears can give a nice, soft cut but I'm not sure it'll have the effect you're hoping for in terms of preventing matting. You might have better luck using a Mars Coat King to actually thin the hair out since you're looking to remove bulk rather than make cuts. You just brush a line with your regular brush and then pull the coat king through the line you brushed. Brush the next line, repeat. There's really no set amount to do it. Brush him down and look at him and take out more if you need to. It's definitely not an exact science. I know I never take enough out. My breeder usually gets bored with watching me and moves me out of the way to get the serious work done! |
