Me too. I keep watching for an update. I think Jo must have had her laptop strapped to her when she delivered, she let us know so quick!

Still sending prayers....
:o :o :o holy cow Jo!!!!! 8O

I just got up and saw this post...and now I have to go to the land of no internet all day....ACK!

Ill be thinking of you guys all day...and diving for the computer the second I get home.

Many, many hugs to you and your little girl (and the rest of the J family) :ghug: :ghug: :ghug:
Wow! That was fast! Hope you and baby are okay.
Thanks everyone. I JUST now saw the baby for the first time. I cried my eyes out seeing her chest struggle to breathe. Plus, I'm not allowed to hold her yet. They said her breathing hasn't gotten better but is stabilized. I can't believe how small she is, but look at my moo moo (joshee) boy. Anything looks small when you have a moose for your youngest.

I couldn't use the flash because they don't want anyone to "disturb" the baby (harder for baby to breathe if she's crying/startled), so no pics yet. I'll try to squeeze one in w/o a flash if I can.

I had a c-section. Something I wasn't expecting, knew nothing about going into it, so it was a shock for me. I thought my labor cramps were really the baby moving (the moving has been very painful due to how she was in my uterus -- again breech), so I kept apologizing to my husband for the false labor. He said he knew better, and kept driving fast.

They had to keep giving me that shot to slow down contractions b/c my body couldn't wait TEN MINUTES for the aesthetician (sp?) to come to my room from the room next door he was working on. This one would have been under an hour w/o the shot, so thankfully I got it in time for c-section.

I'm afraid to take my first poop. Haven't slept a wink because I'm worried about the baby. More later. thank you guys. Seeing the replies gave me a good smile.
Wow... you've had a long night.... great news that her breathing has stabilized, I'm sure they'll keep a close eye on everything and you'll be able to hold her in no time. I know how hard it is to see them struggling and so tiny and seem so fragile, but I bet she's strong and will ease your worries soon.

How much does she weigh?
BTW, re the c-section, just keep a pillow with you at all times to hold it against you when you move or sneeze etc... it makes it a little easier. *hugs*
Sooooooooo glad you're ok! :phew: And she's not small, she's PETITE.....a perfect little lady. Keeping those prayers coming for you and your family.

ps. poop asap - get it out of the way.
Oh Jo, thank goodness we heard from you. I was getting worried.

I have to laugh at your poop comment - they won't release you without one.

I had a preemie and everyone came out of the woodwork telling me about their now perfectly healthy preemies - that actually helped relieve the worries a little.

You have seen the pictures of my now healthy 24 year old son who came into the world 2 months early at 4 lbs.

Hugs to you and the baby. We are still thinking about you.
I'm glad you updated.

Glad you got to see her...

I was wondering if you had a c-section. My girl was breech too, which is why I had the c.

Don't worry about pooping right away. It'll come in its own time!

Just move slowly, but definitely move. I did NOT want to get up and out of bed, but it really does help, but don't try to go too far too fast...and don't lift your boys, either. It can tear the incision.

Sorry it didn't go as planned, but she's been causing havoc this whole time!

Still thinking of you guys.
Did I miss it-- or do we not have a name yet??? :)
Awwww...I'm so glad you're both doing okay!! I know it's scary, but she will be fine in no time. I'm sending you prayers and GENTLE hugs!!

No she has not officially announced it yet.

But a little "birdie" told me what it is supposed to be and it is lovely.

She tends to not post names online, so we'll see if we get an official announcement.
Congrats, Wow, wasn't expecting this!
Welcome Baby Girl!
Looking forward to seeing pics!
:ghug: :ghug:
Hope all is well!
Woooo hooooo!

Welcome to itty bitty J.!!!!
Her name is Jillian Rian... :)

She now has blood coming up from her stomach. They're going to give her two doses of I believe Zantac, and we'll know from there whether it will pass on its own or if it's more serious.
Beautiful name!

Hope she's doing better soon.
Congratulations on your new little one!
What a pretty name!!!

Please keep us posted. How much did she weigh??
What a sweet name :D

I read your post before bed last night and had to wake up early to look for an update... you're all in my thoughts!
Jillian Rian is lovely!
Hope she is getting stronger by the minute.
All the best and remember to look after yourself too.
beautiful name, for what im sure is a beautiful little girl.

We will be thinking of little Jillian and your family!

That's a beautiful name, for a beautiful little girl. Mrs. J...G-d will watch over her and keep her safe, and bless her with a long, healthy life.

:ghug:
Congratulations and welcome to the world Jillian Rian (Beautifull name for the new lil princess) :D

She has had a bumpy ride but I am sure all will be well, you get some rest too and look forward to seeing her.

Staceys idea with the pillow is priceless after a ceaser, it hurts to cough or sneeze.

It may not be what you wanted (A C-section) but the most important thing is she has arrived and now we all wait to hear the news is good (which it will be)

Love to you whole family. And again Welcome to your new lil princess, I bet she is as cute as anything.
Congratulations!! What a beautiful name you chose. Special thoughts and prayers for both of you.
I don't know what to say. My heart dropped when I read about this. I am praying for all the family. :? I hope you all are together at home soon, and enjoying your latest joy. :hearts:
I hope things are improving today <hug>

congrats to you all on your little baby girl, love her name cause my name is Jill.
Her nurse thinks she is gaining weight since her eyelids are swollen, but she looks so tiny I can't tell. :) They aren't weighing her again until she gets off the oxygen. Last was 4.9lbs Once i start feeding her, I know she'll look like a butterball.

Still had blood coming out of her mouth (from stomach), but there was a lot less than the last time I visited.

I'm going to be sad when I leave here (friday ..maybe sat) and can't bring ms. little jilly home w/me or even had a chance to hold her. I hope it's soon though!
Gaining weight is fantastic, the nurses are so experienced that I bet she's right.
 It will be hard to go home without your precious little girl. :crossed: That she does really well and can come home with you as soon as possible.
Take care and rest up - you will need to be getting up all night soon enough

Beautiful name by the way 8) 8)
I bet she comes home very soon. Her weight is high enough and as you feed her she will gain more. Each day her breathing will get better too.
I just love her name too. Prayers are with all of you

BY THE WAY HOW IS DADDY DOING?
Beautiful name for a beautiful lil baby! Prayers with you and your family, gaining weight is the best thing for her! Will be checking this post often..Try to rest and take care of yourself . :ghug:
Keeping precious Jillian Rian in my thoughts and prayers so she can come home soon! Please take care of yourself so you're ready when she comes home. As a veteran of 2 c-sections, I IMPLORE you - NO lifting the boys for awhile!
Congratulations. It sounds really stressful but I know you have the clear mind to just keep thinking positive thoughts. I'm thinking of all of you. I hope littlest J gets to come home soon.

I'm a 2 time c-sec veteran also.....so please don't vacuum! (I found out the hard way.)
How are you feeling today? Have you been up and moving around?

I'm thinking of all you guys.

Jillian is such a beautiful name! One more cute 'lil J :D

Thanks for keeping us updated on everything.
what a beautiful name try and keep us posted she will be home before you know it
These are kind of disturbing pics b/c she has so much stuff strapped to her, but it's all I have (which stinks), so I thought I'd post them to make me feel better.

They're doing a chest and abdominal x-ray again this morning on her. She's the only one of 11 preemies on oxygen still :( She's actually requiring more instead of less oxygen which the dr said she wasn't expecting. They think it'll be a few more days at least before she even gets fed milk (just fluids). They want to keep her stomach calm.
Congrats on the little girl! Beautiful name. I know it must be difficult, but hang in there. Miss Jilly will be home soon and Mommy can fatten her up!
What a sweet little angel. I think she is feisty enough to pull through this okay based on your pregnancy.

I am also a 2 time c-section veteran and it is important you follow the doctors orders or you will end up on bedrest! You may be restricted on driving at first because of your stitches.
She is so tiny....and beautiful. What a precious bundle.
I'm sure we all have stories of premies far smaller and in far more stress than Jillian....that are alive and w/o problems today. Sterling was 3 month early premie.....yep, he cooked for just 6 month...I don't remember the exact number of weeks. The hospital abandoned the 5 lb minimum to go home because after 2 months he had gone from "ain't gonna make it" to "he'll make it but with serious problems" to "he'll be trying to walk out of here soon". Now at 2 he's still very tiny, but walking, talking/sassing and seeing. What fun the parents had with a 6 lb. baby feeding himself in restaurants!! People would just stare.

Perhaps the most surprising was his physical development, Dad works at home and every day "played" with him on an exercise ball. His reflexes and strength floored the doctors as they expected him to barely crawl 2.....hahahaha.

So give Jillian a chance to finish "cooking." Expect some set backs but realize babies have a fierce will to improve. I was a month early and by 4 years had caught and surpassed others my age. Only problem I had was high altitudes until I was around 5 and my lungs finally caught up.
Thinking of you & praying for you & little Miss Jillian Rian (lovely name! :D ) and knowing that all will be well soon. :ghug:
Such a beautiful little angel! We will continue to pray for your sweet little Jillybean......(sorry, I have a thing with nicknames nowadays, lol) lots of :ghug: :ghug: :ghug: :ghug: :ghug: :ghug:
O I think she is BEAUTIFUL! What a sweet lil angel .... I will keep her in my prayers please keep updating us on your special little bundle ... she is so cute! :hearts:

Congrats to you and your family
I am glad you are ok as well! :ghug:
sheepieboss, yeah it does help to hear about other stories. Definitely nice to see other mothers in the nicu cry b/c they can't hold their lo's (and it being their first child).

I get to see lil j and joshee today, so they'll have fun putting their handprints on the wall (you get to paint the siblings hands next to your room in the hallway) as a permanent memory.

Yeah, I will say that a c-section is what I'd take 100 times over than a natural birth (my last), but I'm not sure about the recovery  I am hunched over like an ol lady due to the incision. Still afraid to "go" to the bathroom when the time comes. :)

My blood pressure is 88/42 so that's the only thing they are monitoring.

What a beautiful lil Jillybean!
holy cow...take a normal weds off and look what happens!!!

she is just beautiful....small and perfect....love her name....

take care of yourself and yes, even though you can ''do it'' ie lift, vacuum etc...dont.....

cant wait for more pics !!

xo,
Wow what a peanut she is.....congratulations! I hope she will be home with the boys soon.
For a nurse standpoint, take care of yourself! If you are not on a stool softener, ask to be put on one, and see if they will give you dulcolax if you are having gas pain, and will help with "going". Warm blankets always help ease gas discomfort.
Big hugs to you and your family!
She's so beautiful! No wonder you're upset you can't hold her 8) (aside from the obvious other reasons.

Again, don't stress about #2. I had T at 5pm on a Tuesday and didn't go until Thursday AM. I wanted to leave that afternoon so I had to...

And about the recovery, at least for me (and I have a decent pain tolerance)...it was pretty painful for the first few days--like you said, walking all hunched over like an old lady. But it improves pretty quickly. By week 2 I was WAY better. Although that's when you need to be careful. You'll fool yourself that you can do more than you actually should. And it's WAY worse to have torn stitches than to wait an extra while and let it heal properly.

Thanks for the updates, and still thinking of you! :D
She's going to be fine, just needs a little extra time...seeing her pictures are not disturbing, they're a relief. She looks wonderful!

REST while you're there. HEAL HEAL HEAL!
Your baby is absolutely beautiful. Congratulations I am sure everything will work out. Rest all you can...xxxx
Yikes!! :cow:

I've been away for one day... one day.... !!!

I'm so relieved you seem to be in high spirits, you are so brave :ghug:

Teeny J is so cute, I bet you can't wait to hold her. Sheesh... I'm not guessing birth dates again!

:ghug: CONGRATULATIONS!!! :ghug:
Lil Jillie is beautiful. I love her name! Sending more prayers and positive thoughts to all of you..(I hope you can hold her soon)
The Photos are great to see , Jillian is just gorgeous !

I've had 3 C-sections and 2 of them were only 11 months apart  the best advice I was given was to stand up straight from day one , just sort of unfurl slowly from sitting to standing and it stops a lot of backpain that you get from hunching over .......worked for me .

Look after yourself and try and rest as much as you can before you go home and then have to travel back to visit Jillian ......that was the hardest thing with our youngest as you want to be in 2 places at once .

Julie X
Congratulations on a beautiful, precious baby girl! She is so sweet looking. Since you've been thru this twice before you already know you should rest and sleep while you can....easier said than done. Prayers and best wishes that you both continue to feel better each day...there's just nothing greater in this world than a new life! It truly makes life and this world make sense! Again, congratulations!
Congratulation to the whole J family!!!!

Quote"sheepieboss, yeah it does help to hear about other stories"

You asked for it...Dh's granddaughter was born at 1pound 1 and 1/2 oz. She is a mouthy and fine 8yo. Co-workers granddaughter was born under 3lbs and is a cute as a bug toddler now.

It will take a little time for her to get this whole breathing thing figured out and before you know it she will be coming home and waking you up in the middle of the night.

I know you are worried about her(we all are) but be sure between all that worry, you take care of yourself so you can take care of her when she gets home.
Didn't the Moose have breathing issues when he first got home? Or was that somebody else?

I love the suggestion you stand up straight as soon as you can. Yeah, it's your belly not mine, but you aren't getting any younger and the more you move like an old lady the faster you get there.

Keep pumping in preparation of when the route will be more direct....that will be soon.

She's a lovely baby and no, she's not "hooked up to a lot of machines." There are so many more that could come into play. She fell out at a good weight, that will help her thru this.

This has not been the ideal pregnancy for you or her, but look at the reward. She's beautiful.
Thanks for the pictures - she is adorable. :D

Lisa was exactly the same weight at birth - and LeAnne just 5 oz more. They are little and scrawny, but they plump up real fast.
Get those little lungs and GI tract matured and there will be no stopping her! :cheer:
I am so happy for you ...don't worry everything will be ok.
She is a beautiful little baby.
Thanks for keeping us updated and hang in there.
I'm thinking of your family
Jillian is beautiful!!!! :hearts: :hearts: Keeping our fingers and paws crossed that she gets to come home soon!
I'm another one who didn't stop by yesterday. So glad she is safely here. She is beautiful. All good wishes and prayers to you and your family.
What a little beauty with a lovely name, congrats to all the Js
What a beautiful little punkin...
hoping she is doing well!
Take care Mr and Mrs.J.
You are in our thoughts and prayers!
:ghug: :ghug:
What a precious lil munchin, hope all is going well and you are all home real soon. She is so pretty

Thinking of you all :ghug:
What a beautiful little girl... and nice hair too :D
Are her lips as big as you thought they'd be from the ultrasound?
AWWW! :hearts: She' beautiful! Congratulations!!!!!

I cant remember who (in a previous post) nicknamed her "Jillybean", but I love it! :aww:
She is a beauty. So dainty....

Let us know how she is doing, and how the visit went with the other lil' J's..
lil J calls her jillybean too. :) I seem to call her ms. jilly.

She unfortunately is needing more oxygen to assist her in breathing. <sigh> I guess we were hoping she would get a little better each day and closer to being home

I'm stressed and stinking up my hospital room. I'm soo gassy.
:cow:
I'm so sorry that things aren't progressing as quickly as we'd all like. I'm sure everything will work out in it's own time. I hope you and Jilly are feeling better very soon!!!!!
Hang in there Jo. She will pull through it.

How did the boys like making the handprints?

Joahaeyo wrote:

:cow:

Gassy is good. They want the air out of your stomach from the surgery.
Oh, I forgot. They had fun doing it! Mr. J bought them "I'm a big brother" shirts before coming to see me, and on the way up to my room... EVERYONE kept asking lil J if he was a big brother and he kept getting upset "I'M NOT BIG BROTH... I'M NOT BIG BROTH... I'm lil J!" It was hilarious. By the end of his stay, he was in tears from so many people calling him something he felt he wasn't.

lil J seems to understand there is a baby and acts interested, but we gave Joshee crackers before entering the NICU, so he had no interest in being lifted up to take a peak. He just wanted to eat. That's my moose.
Still pulling for Itty Bitty J.!
How is she?????
:ghug:
Many congratulations to you all. She will be fine, just will take some time. NICU's are wonderful and staffed with great nurses!

When i had my 'zipper' surgeries (just like your C-Section) 2 w/in 6 months due to fertiility drugs........ugh i remember them telling me i couldn't go home until i had 'gone' too. Being the BAD NURSE that i am, i remember telling them i had gone just so i could go home.

Take care of yourself and do not push it, no driving, do NOT vaccum, and let Mr. J do all the lifting. You will recover much quicker. And yes, stand up straight with the pillow tucked in tightly to your incision area...... and MOVE....... Walk up and down those halls until you are sick of them!!!

You will both be home in no time.
Ali
Thanks everyone. I am trying to rest up but you know how it is to be up every few hours to feed ...except I have no baby to feed. I just get to pump. Still haven't held her, and I know I'll be sad when I leave the hospital today, but it does fill my cup when I go see her in the NICU. I pooped and had no problem ;)

Like the last update, she was expected to be off oxygen by now, and isn't. I'm not sure how it all works but her oxygen level was at 24% ...so close to being off of it, and now it's at 55%. I am trying to trust that time will make her better, but it's so hard to go in and see her, and always seeing the alarm go off saying she isn't stable. Hopefully next week, she'll come around.
It's awful going home and leaving them in the special care unit <hug> but hopefully it wont be too long until you're at home together , we made it just a couple of days before Benedict's due date but he was only 3 weeks early and weighed 8lbs 11 .....he looked huge compared to all the tiny babies in there :D

Glad everything is working well with you  I actually found it easier to cope with the C-sections than with all the stitches I had first time around when I had a normal delivery and our daughter was only 5lbs 5 !!

I'll be thinking of you going home , Take Care and rest as much as you can between visits .

Julie X
hugs to yuo all from us there i do hope she comes home soon.

keep us posted!! and if you can get more pictures that would be great she so cute.

sending lil jilly good vibes and hopes she will behome with mummy and daddy soon.

zoe and einy
Still thinking of you...glad to hear itty bitty j is getting stronger!
Hows everything Mrs J? We are thinking of you :ghug:
Well she has jaundice which is totally normal for a preemie and nothing we are surprised by.

But the doctor continues to tell us that she is not progressing at the level a normal baby does :( Her lungs are still filled with fluids, so they are going to put her on some medicine that should help her pee more to hopefully help her. I guess your body typically absorbs this or gets rid of it by peeing. I don't know... Her breathing has not improved. We'll go back later to hopefully hear some better news.

We had to put one of the nurses on a "never again to touch our baby and can no longer work on the same shift" list. Long story and I'm so tired to write all out, but she caused my baby and another next to her to go downhill real fast due to her careless actions. ...and when preemies go downhill, it kind sets them back to square one which was the case for mine after days of climbing up a few tiny steps.
You must be so stressed.... my middle one was born 3 weeks early, was 5 lbs 5 oz but went down to 4 lbs 12 oz fast and got bronchitis as soon as he was born because I had it. He was in an incubator for ten days but improved really quickly. He didn't have any residual problems (no asthma or allergies etc)
My memories of those ten days are a little foggy, but I remember they seemed to last forever, and once I brought him home and he was thriving I didn't give it a second thought....
:ghug: Thinking of your family, hopefully you have some really great news soon
Congratulations on your new little girl :D I know how you are feeling right about now. All 3 of my kids were preemies, the biggest of my three weighed 5lbs. My last baby who is now 23, weighed 2lbs.3 oz. we were in the NICU until a week after his actual due date. I had him at 28 wks. We were there for almost 3 mos. With a preemie your life can change minute by minute, but remember girls tend to be stronger than boys. You will hear alot of new terms such as, feeds and bleeds, but remember each day she will be a little stronger, and finally that day will come when you can hold her, it may seem like forever, but it will come!!! Keep a positive attitude, visit her and talk to her, she will feel your love. When i brought home by little guy he was 3mos. old and weighed 4lbs.11 oz. He is now 6' 2" and about 185 lbs., eats me out of house and home , and is healthy as a horse  My thoughts and prayers will be with you, you have brought back to me alot of old memories. If you ever need to talk, you can pm me if you would like, I know what you are going through. And I think she is just beautiful :hearts: with a beautiful name.
Continuing to keep little Jilly and your entire family in our prayers! Take care and try to get some rest yourself--even though it is hard. My son was born with a heart issue and was in NICU for three weeks--we also had a nurse issue when she gave him too much of his medication and he became toxic because of it.

Right now feeling the uncertainty and experiencing the ups and downs is really tough--but she will be ok. We found that the Drs. were really cautious and it seemed that the 'news' was never really good--but eventually he came home and has been healthy ever since--
He is 22 yrs. old 6'3 and 180 lbs.

Special thoughts!
thinking of you all and sending prayers and good thoughts :ghug:
Ugh it sounds very stressful, my prayers are with you.
:ghug:  :ghug: Tinking of you all and little Jillybean.
Hugs to you and all of the J's! I hope those little lungs are clearing and the o2 sats are on the rise.
Hope things are improving! Thinking of you and your family.
Hi Mrs. J....congratulations to you on the birth of baby girl J. My nephew was born a preemie at 3lbs, 3 oz. Today he is 14 yrs. old and probably stands almost 6 ft. tall. I can remember those nights my sister and I spent at the hospital going to visit him. It was the hardest thing in the world to do when we had to leave him there. Just keep your head held high and hang in there. I'll be thinking about you and baby girl J.
Oh Mrs. J, I am so sorry for all you are going through. I'm praying for you, Little Bitty J, and your family. Hang in there!
I hope you are letting family and friends help you with the boys, the house, the dogs so you can rest, pump, and travel to see precious Jilly. You all are in my thoughts and prayers.
OH MY, MRS J!!!!!!!!

I haven't been able to be online much lately, and JUST read all of this!!! First; Congratulations!!! You are so brave and strong and your little Jillian is just lovely and adorable!!! It must be so hard what you are going through, but you sound really well and I think that's so great. I'll pray for you and little Jill; and for everyone to be home and healthy very, very soon! I can't wait to see more photos of your precious little girl. :hearts: :hearts:

Be well; and lots of sheepie kisses and well wishes from all of us here!

Many of your thoughts really help me feel better, and the pm's. Thank you. Even though every case is different, and babies born even earlier can do better than ones later... the stories at least let me know that she is going to be just fine.

Things seem to be stable which is good. The dr said if he were to make a wild guess to when she'd be home, he said if all goes well from here, the MINIMUM amount of time left would be 2 wks.

A lot of people are asking why I can't hold her, and the reason (to clarify on here instead of over several emails) is... when she has ANY stimulation (changing her iv's, changing her receiving blanket, to even putting her on her belly or back for a change of pace), she goes into overdrive and her respiratory system can't handle it, so she stops breathing. SO... she has to stay as still as possible with little noise.

I cried the whole time at our last visit because she kept opening her eyes to stare at me, and you just can't help but think she's the most precious and helpless little thing. I can't wait to bring her home.
:ghug: :ghug::ghug: :ghug::ghug: :ghug::ghug: :ghug:
Sending all of you great big sheepie hugs :ghug: :ghug: :ghug: and to Ms. Little J lots of sheepie kisses   .
Have you put pictures of the family by her yet? I know they say little ones can't see very well, but it might be nice anyways. And how about something that smells like mommy? Hoping and praying that she wows them all and comes home soon! :ghug:
:ghug:  :ghug:  :ghug:  :ghug:  :ghug:  :ghug:  :ghug:  :ghug:  :ghug:  :ghug:  :ghug:  :ghug:  :ghug:  :ghug:  :ghug:

Hugs and kisses to you, Mr. J, and especially to jillybean.
It was good to get an update , I've been thinking of you all <hug> I guess it's not surprising that Jilly wants peace and quiet when she ought to be still swimming quietly in your tum ...once she's strong enough to be cuddled she wont want to be anywhere else than in your arms and I think everyone here is counting the days along with you .

Take Care .

When I see a sweet little baby, my arms ache to hold them. I can't even imagine how difficult this is for you not be able to hold your little girl.

Hopefully the time will pass quickly, and she will soon be in your arms, where she belongs.
Thanks for posting your update.
I have been wondering and wondering how things are going.
All the best. :crossed: That its 2 weeks till Little Ms J can go home.
