ooops!!!!
I know exactly how that table feels when the pups come flying into me........thankfully no longer ONto me.
Its Extreme Agility. You never know what's going to happen
Well that is one we have yet to try.

Better not let my teammate see that or he might be inspired.

Thanks for posting that Pam.
Karen recently reposted this on another list. She said Ice wasn't upset by this at all. He waited until they put the legs back on, jumped up and then completed the course! 8)

It frightened me a bit, because Chewie has jumped on mine like that and had it rock to the side and tip back - so I'm glad my legs/base are permanently screwed onto the table!
I wasnt sure whether the dog's name Ice or if the heading referred to a slippery table

Someone recently laughed and told me that the reason Tiggy likes to chase is because I called her Tiggy. 8O I hadnt thought of the connection.

Maybe Ice isnt the best name for an agility dog.

Mim, he'd had that name for a while before the table incident and without incident... 8)

The table legs are supposed to be attached in some manner. 8O

As for the name theory, her middle dog is named BREAKER... 8O 8O 8O <imagining the possibilities of a dog with such a name...> and her puppy is named LIFT.

Well known agility competitor (US) Linda Mecklenburg subscribes to your theory of being careful what you name an agility dog, I think, because her border collies are named things like Awesome, Nifty, Super, Stellar, Wonder, Neat and Spiffy.

And then there are those of us geniuses who name our agility dogs things like Mad Dog and Sybil...

Tiggy is a good OES agility name in that name, by the way. And may the gods be with you 8O

Re names, I've noticed lots of performance dogs have one syllable names like Fly, Skip, Smoke, etc.. I'm guessing easier to train?
^^^^^

Ohhhh Kristine, want to answer that one?? I believe you have a Syb??
^^^^^^
I'd better 'fess up. Tiggy does get "Tig", a lot. Also "Wiggins" short for Tiggy Wiggy (came about because she doesnt like her topnot and always pulls it loose and has a wild wig)

Our obedience instructor calls her Tigster. I think its a freudian slip! She's combined Tiggy and monster in her mind and Tigster is the result.

   Well, yes, in the sense that when you're doing something fast like agility, it's easier to get the monosyllable names out. Mine that fit that category are Belle, Liz and Che. But Maddie, Macy and Sybil all immediately became Mad, Mace and Syb, so there's hope for those with long names, right Gar?

In working Border Collies I think there is a bit of tradition to pick monosyllable names. I don't specifically consider it when naming a dog, but I do know that whatever I pick will end up shortened.

On the flip side my dog's nicknames tend to be longer (and often ridiculous) versions of their names. My theory is that you need a lot more syllables for the full effect of your displeasure at their naughtiness to make itself known. Right, Sybellini?

Tigster. How appropriate...

Kristine
Chewie gets shortened to "Chew". That version got us pulled to a complete halt when the herding test instructor stopped us to ask what command I just gave my dog as he was going after the sheep! 8O
I suppose he had a right to ask that - they were his sheep too! probably thought "stupid lady with a fluffy showdog just told her dog to eat my sheep!"
After a clarification that his name was in fact Chewie and I just used a shorter version, we were allowed to proceed......
^^^^^^^^
Lucky you didnt name him a macho name like killer!!! :D
Imagine what the instructor would have thought if you'd yelled out "kill" for short. 8O
