They know how to get to you.

A long day and I sit down in the recliner with a cold drink. I take a sip and begin to relax. The quiet clink of ice in the glass brings Charlie over. He stands in front of me, staring silently. I try to ignore him, but it's difficult. His big, liquid brown eyes just stare forlornly... He wants an ice cube...

He finally sits down facing me, patiently waiting. One foot comes up, his paw held out in the classic begging gesture. He holds it out to me. I look away.

Minutes go by. His leg starts to quiver. He changes legs and the other paw come up. "Please?"

I relent and fish an ice cube out of my glass. Charlie eagerly crunches it.

Hearing ice crunching, Toby comes over, wiggling his bum. "Me too, me too!"

Toby fidgets and begins dancing, taking little hops on his front feet. I ignore him. He starts barking, complaining loudly.

"No ice for YOU!" I tell him. Toby looks over at Charlie, who is now finished with his ice and joins Toby with the pitiful look and the paw coming up again. Unlike Toby, he knows how to get to me. Toby glances back and forth at Charlie and me, knowing Charlie is the expert at getting something.

I give up. It's been along day. Two ice cubes get handed out this time. Satisfied, the dogs go back to whatever sheepdogs do when they are not bugging you and I finally get back to my drink, now getting warm from the lack of ice.

great story ! EXCEPT WE HAVE 3 ICE EATERS THAT BEG LOL

and hubby's name is Richard.
I am not allowed to get ice out of the fridge door with out dispensing some to the pups...
Suckered!!!
Every morning, before I rush out of the house, I put a few ice cubes in my coffee so I don't burn my mouth while drinking and driving. Every morning I have dogs rushing the fridge so they can get their ice too.

Makes a great low cal treat.
Very Familiar--down to the one that knows he isn't the expert a 'getting' something and does the 'hoppy' thing and the barking!! Too Funny! We know that they know that THEY have got our number! And we let it happen!
You are a great story teller I could picture my wiggle bum doing the same thing........ GUILTY
We've found that to please both palates of our Sheepies that when Asterisk wants her frosty paws, Wendel is just as satisfied with a bowl with three ice cubes in it.
isn't it bad when you fish out the ice and it is one solid piece
Great story, I can so relate to this. I can't go near the fridge or freezer without Jenny poking her head in to see what there is for her, and she thinks that the only purpose of the icemaker is to give ice to her.
haha perfect
I love it! The sound of our ice tray cracking brings Sunny every time! Except lately she hasn't been finishing the ice, so we're left with tiny puddles that make us go "hmmm???? I hope that's water!"

I actually saw the paw in the air thing for the first time a few weeks ago. She was asking to be let out. I thought she had fallen asleep sitting up the way her paw just hung in the air. Good to know she not crazy, just a crazy OES!
