September 11th

Yesterday I was driving, and I saw a car with an American flag on the antenia. It made me smile.

Then I remembered back to the weeks and months following 9/11. Remeber? We all had flags on our cars. We flew flags at our homes, at our businesses. We wore American Flag pins...everyday. We were so filled with pride about being American.

When did it stop? Why did it stop? We felt tied to one another, a common bond, stand strong.

I vaguely remember thinking to myself, I hope this goodwill never ends.

But it did. What happened?

I have a flag flying at home, everyday. We have for years, just repairing and replacing it as needed.

Our exchange students always commented, no matter what country they were from. NONE of them said that they ever see such pride in the country with flying flags, wearing the flag on clothing, etc. as much as in the USA. So, although we think it has diminished, apparently we always are more visibly proud of our country than most. :D
September 11 is an official flag day now.......so if you got 'em, fly 'em.

We don't have a good place to fly a flag in the front of the house, but do so on the side. We see it, but others really can't.
Sure, you do, Susan:

We all pretty much do

Kristine, that is great!!!! We have a flag holder on our garage, and fly the flag on most holidays.

I've told Tony, if we ever buy a house (we are in a townhouse), I really, REALLY want a real flag pole!
I could wrap it around Glacier's E-Collar!! What a cute photo!

What a great idea!

The pic was taken at a puppy party at my vet's house - my litter of OES, a litter of salukis and a litter of goldens I think it was - on or around the 4th of July. A friend of mine, professional photographer & OES owner, was there and took advantage of Sybil's natural cleptomaniac tendencies, more so, I fear, than her patriotism

I've always felt Patriotic weither I flew a flag, wore a flag, or put one on my car. I do have flags in my house in my planters and decorations from Memorial Day until Labor Day each year. Each of the girls also have patriotic scarves to wear on the holidays. :D

When 9/11 happened my mother had just passed away three weeks before then and my fil passed three weeks before her, so all I remember is being numb. I was, however, watching the TODAY show when the first plane hit.

I still feel the love our people have for our country in the debates, elections, townhall meetings and I feel everyone wants what is best for all of us.
What an adorable picture of Sybil.
