Today is my anniversary. Coolest gift ever.

The guy just called. My anniversary gift will be delivered this afternoon. (We didn't have a vehicle heavy enough to tow it, so we're paying his gas and he's dropping it off here.)

I am getting my very own classic muscle car. I've always loved them, and we found a great deal. All he needs is a paint job. I've named him Sam. (For you Supernatural fans, his full name is Sam Winchester.)

He's a beautiful yellow 1974 Plymouth Roadrunner. He's big and loud and sleek, and has had his huge engine replaced with an even bigger one (a 440). I'm still a little nervous about actually driving him, and that says a lot. My husband's (oh so obnoxious looking) monster truck doesn't scare me, but this one does a little. I am actually giddy.

I plan to keep him in the garage this year, get things all squared away and painted, and then bring him out in the spring. I am so happy!

I've thanked my hubby profusely for every gift he's ever given me but he as the worst luck with picking things out (or the worst taste perhaps)...but this time he's made up for all of those FOR LIFE.

He'll be here in a few hours, and I think I might just go sit on my driveway now and start waiting.

All my friends are shocked and scandalized. No one ever guessed I had a thing for classic muscle cars. Apparently I'm just the mildmannered grade two teacher they all know and love - day and night, and weekends too.

Having been the proud owner of a 1967 GTO, I know how you are feeling. Good luck with Sam and as the old adage went, "Beep-beep Your AS_" We have a local restaurant near us where every Friday night there is a "Muscle Car" show. Lots of power sitting in that parking lot.
If you can't have the Hemi, the 440 is a good alternative! Holley carbs? Gosh, to have a car with carb again........something I can find and understand.

Like all those cars, stay out of small parking lots! We've grown used to tight radius cars.....OK your husband's truck has probably kept you current on getting around.

Whats ya gonna paint it? Yellow, black top and stripe?

For awhile, keep it as a crusin' car until you are more comfortable with it.
I love the classic muscle cars, too. My husband and I actually stopped at a car show on our way to my senior/his junior prom. I noticed it as we left the restaurant, and asked him if he wanted to stop. All the people were tickled pink to see us in full formalwear wandering around looking at the pretties..... several actually asked us to pose with their cars! Needless to say, I was the coolest girlfriend in my husband's circle of friends once they found out!
Happy Anniversary!!!!!
