Hi
Hold old is your sheepie? Maggie is 8 months old and i cant say I have ever heard the expression "blowing" the coat before but we brush her daily and I am noticing alot more grey hair under the black and the texture is changing - Is that what you are referring too? I too get a few brush fulls of hair but not as much as you are describing - just curious - I have never been through the coat change before. |
Yes Sheepish, Maggie should be starting hers too since Sky is right now.
If a proper pin brush is used even during the coat transition I'm finding Sky loses a lot less hair than my other oes did even during this phase. Sky's back legs are totally grey now, and it seems to be travelling upward from there. Her big bum is grey now in a spot on either side of it, so it looks funny. I also find Sky's shoulders are greying now too. Sky and Maggie's half sister Edyn took longer to turn grey, so I thought maybe Sky would too, but she seems to be doing this at about the same age as Dancer did. |
well my mickey doodles is 10months,and willow is right pin brushes are awesome!!i never knew about the pin brush til this forum and let me tell ya it works great!!pulls all the under coat out meaning the puppy hair which is blk comes out so the new hair which is gray will be able to grow nicely. |
If the pin brush has no tips it shouldn't actually be pulling out any undercoat, or at least very, very little. For a pet oes though it is generally easier to remove much of the undercoat as it will prevent matting a little more. |
well maybe "pulling" isnt a good word to descride but it sure does remove alot of unwanted puppy hair.i have never used one before since i have only had collies and bouvier mix's,and used slickers and shredders on them,so finding the pin brush is an awesome, however it doesnt do anything for my collie.which is ok since i have other grooming tools for him ![]() Sorry to have used the word pulling, like i have said before im really clumpsy on the computer ![]() |
