We're getting close to our date!

I will say this, we are getting close to our date, sometime towards the end of the next 3 weeks!

Delilah has now gone to 3 smaller meals a day. But I'll be danged if she is slowing down any! To ME she doesn't look all that big. Certainly not as large as her last litter But i was told today that 'there's still 3 weeks out there, for her to fill out.............

She absolutely hates Eukanuba puppy food. So i am now cooking for Madame............ she had fresh chicken boiled and chopped and poured over the top. She ate. Tomorrow i will cook meatloaf for her (and the other 2 get some as well). I also made Ziti tonight and she loves that. Anything to get her to eat, and to fill out at this point. Either that or we go back to see Edgardo.

I'm putting up the whelping box tomorrow. That should start making her feel a bit better too. About 3 years ago I gave Val and Heart a toy sheep that goes "Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" when it is pushed. I kept one for ourselves as well. Dee and Caly are vieing over 'WHOSE' baby it is. They are both carrying around and mothering this sheep that Baah's. So i think it is time.

Are we going to do a lottery???

Good luck with Dee and the puppers.
Have you x-rayed or US to get an estimate on the # of puppies? I would have to do it, I'd be so curious!
Wow time flies! That's amazing! I'm so excited for you although I wish you were up here in CO so I could meet the babies.
PUPPIES! I cannot wait for photos! I too wish you were closer, so I could see them in person!!!
Good luck with the pups I hope all goes well, regarding Eukanuba we have been feeding this for about 4 years, funnily all our dogs have went off it and Misty was getting bouts of the skitters so I know have them on Proplan and they seem to like this.

What's her due date, Ali?

Dee is due the WEEK of the 23rd sometime.

I will say this about this pregnancy. She has been very fit and doing well. Last night i looked over at bedtime and she had gathered ALL of the toys that say "baaaaahhhhh' into the box with her.

I have had a time getting her to eat. I have started cooking. Tonight she got Ziti.............. yesterday tunafish, the day before that chicken........... tomorrow i cook meatloaf.

I'm hoping for around 7 or 8 pups but i don't think so............. we'll see.
keep guessing guys.
Ali
sorry if most of that post was redundant of previous one. I am tired tonight. Didn't sleep much last night for some reason..............
a
Is there a fabulous price for the person that guesses the date and litter details correctly? How about a puppy?!?!?!?! :excited:
I don't think this is going to be as big of a litter as our last one. I just feel blessed to be having this litter at all. I think i am already out of "i wanta puppy" people........... as she just isn't as large as her last litter.........

I would love around 7 but................. and NO I don't know how many! Will hopefully find this out this week.

She has been picky on food now for about 3 weeks. Hence the i am starting to cook for her thread........ She wolfed down the Ziti tonight. Eukanuba puppy food is still in the bowl...........

btw, good dog food down here is 8O 8O 8O E X P E N S I V E 8O 8O 8O !!!!!! A 45/50 lb bag (not sure in Kilo's) is around $90.00 USD!!!!
They dont' have plain IAMS here.

Diamond is pushed, you can also get Royal Canin and Pedigree. Then there are the lower low as you can go dog foods sold in the tiendas by the cup fulls...............

It is an experience. And YES i will do pictures. I just have to figure out HOW to put them on here again.............

August 29th - 6 puppies:

I guess my original guess would be way off then. I'll still keep it though just because.
I'm going to guess August 27th, late, 4 girls and one boy.
I'm also saying August 29 (cuz it's my dad's birthday--he'd be 90 this year)--3 boys, 2 girls. The first will be born around 1pm.

3 females
5 males
OK, I'm in: August 27, sorry Willowsprite.....3 pups 2 boys, 1 girl

sorry guys no puppies.

:!:

I hope everything is okay....?
Oh shoot, I was afraid of something....................since she wasn't showing. Hope it isn't serious :plead:

So sorry to hear that, it's always a disappointment when that happens but especially in this case.
Well, life just is interesting isn't it?
After the first initial shock of 'no puppies' the past 48 hours has been interesting to say the least. Being in a foreign country alone (3rd world) is enough to drive some people totally insane. At least I know enough Spanish to get points across and understand. I have to tell them "despacio por favor" (slow, please) when they start rattling things off totally rapid.......

The vet i have here is a very good vet. He is the only one in town of his level and quality. He speaks at world vet conferances and always goes to AAHA confrences... takes classes at Cornell University Vet College so he is good. This is just .... Mexico. What more can i say?

My Repro vet in Ft. Collins is just totally baffled as well on what is going on here. She Still ACTS pregnant. Today, at her request, we went in and Dr. Vasquez did Progesterone, CBC, Complete Chemistry panel. We are waiting on the results of these tests. We don't have the ability to do digital x-rays or ultrasounds here. I think he is one of 2 in town that HAVE X-ray here, let alone ultrasound machine. Tonight I received an email from CO vet. She says she wants an ultrasound to make SURE she isn't pregnant and the whelps bones just have not calcified. We are positive on the dates we bred Dee and Duncan. So, tomorrow after dropping Checkers off at the one vet's office, I will take Dee in to have an ultrasound done. I guess this will tell us a couple of things, 1) if there ARE pups there, or 2) if there ever WERE any pups in there.
Then, i will have to overnight things to Ft. Collins. I have read and counted pups on x-rays and didn't see anything myself but who knows at this point. Tonight Dee LOOKS like she is pregnant and is busy in the whelping box as i didn't get it taken down today, and is still carrying around the two little sheep toys that go BAAAAHHHHHH.
Special thoughts with you and Dee tomorrow. :crossed: :crossed: :crossed: Hope you get good news.
Xray definitely won't show pups til the last week, after day 54 or so at the earliest is when the bones calcify and you can see skulls and spines.

Ultrasound will show the pups or empty sacs if pups were re absorbed.

False pregnancy though can cause some dogs to "act the part" all the way through, collecting thing as their babies, being very maternal, weight change, appetite changes, everything.... some even get milk and can then be a foster mother to new pups who may have lost their mum.

Hopefully if you can get an ultrasound somehow you can get more answers, but if you can't I'd wait til the last week for xrays.

Good luck!
:crossed:
You've had repro problems before......can't remember the bitch's name. Is Dee or was Duncan from the same line as the problem girl? Does this go back to the frozen sperm from Englannd?

ooops, sorry this should have been a PM
@Ali;
Sorry you're going through all of this. :ghug:

Yes, this is true. If we ultrasound, our vets recommend the 4 week mark. I did this with one girl so I could plan if I should schedule vacation time at work. Usually tho' we just x-ray about 3 days prior to the very 1st possible due date. This gives us a pretty accurate picture of how many pups to expect during delivery.
I am just amazed by that. I still learn something new almost everyday around here.
we've done the x ray. i too tend to do it 4 day before delivery. AND an ultrasound.......... no pups.
As i said Mexico is an adventure. They are about 20 years behind us in USA......... But my vet here is so good and really is wantingto know what is going on as well. He is working very hard with my repro vet in colorado. Tomorrow should be the last test result for us to have returned. i will then pick them all up, and overnight them to her in colorado. Not that she can do anything at this point, except maybe help try to find out what went wrong here. We were so positive the dates we bred there should be no problem.
Thanks all for the good thoughts.
Oh that's sad! Such a disappointment for you.
