I am sorry to hear about your friend's Dad.

What a mess to clean up after losing part of a Giant Maple. We had a huge Oak tree go down on our house a few years ago with the hurricane of '04 and in the 90's a huge Poplar Tree was knocked over in our backyard when we lived out in the country in MI when a tornado went through A lot of work cleaning up.

Take time to rest, beliieve me it will be waiting for you. :D
Have you even had a "summer?" Seems everytime I look, it's raining.

That was my reaction when I saw the title. I do think the Northwest stole our summer :x

Sorry about your troubles Ron.

Capitalise on the flooding.

Be the first house in your street to have ducks in the basement!
I'm sorry. :( My husband has been sad trying to do everything to save the trees in our yard from last year's hurricane, so I think he'd fall apart if his favorite giant tree was in trouble.

Maybe you and the Mrs. need to take a break, give each other massages and follow it up with a bubble bath and wine. ...and then a little something-something.
I hope the rest of the summer gets better. :?
Hope things get better at your place Ron.
Ron, I'm sorry you're not having the best of summers. I wish good fortune on you, Joan, Mulligan and your house. I'm sorry for your friend's loss--please give him a hug from me. It's horrible to lose a parent. And here's my hug to you {{{{{{Ron}}}}}}
Sorry for your troubles. Hope things start to get better soon. Condolences for your friend.

LMAO :D :D :D

Sorry to hear about you having a tough summer, Ron :(
Hopefully what's left of summer will be better for you Ron :ghug:
Hope things take a turn for the better - very soon. Then you can enjoy the rest of the summer!
Ron, I'm so sorry to hear things have been so crappy for you. And, I especially sorry to hear of your friend's dad passing.

Things have to get better!
:ghug:
:(

:ghug:

Here's hoping for a more delightful fall.
Oh Ron, I feel sorry for you! Hope the rest of the summer gets better!! :D
:ghug: Here's to better days! :tea:
I am the cautious sort. I wear my hard hat and goggles and gloves when at the town facility for yard waste and brush, just in case I (or someone I'm with) somehow mishandles an armload of brush I won't get conked in the head or have my glasses ruined or eye poked out.

So instead I go hit flush on the side of the nose with the sawn end of a branch. Boy that hurt and my nose started to bleed right away, but stopped very quickly.

Then while pulling some branches out of a pile to load onto a trailer, I pulled my lower back. I took some pain meds (tylenol and naproxen) right away and 1/2 hour later was able to continue working, but my back has been sore for 2 days now.

So today I took a day off and lounged about the couch.
Wow! I think you are having a tough summer.....geez

Ron I'm really sorry to hear of your misery this summer. Ouch on the back but get out and get some pain patches fromt he store. Put the patch right where it hurts and you will be amazed how quickly you're back up on your feet.
Regarding the damage to your nose....my hubby has always worked in someway construction and each time he would start a project he would always cut his forhead, cut his finger or some other weird thing. When he did we would have a saying that NOW the project would go smoothly because the injury was out of the way. :D

I hope your nose and back heal quickly. Maybe you need to hire someone and then sit on your porch with a lemonade and just watch. :tea:
Well, the back is almost better after another day of rest. Back at it tomorrow!

I HOPE the injuries are all out of the way!

Thanks everyone for the support.
Good luck, sweetie!
Goodness! When it rains, it pours, huh? I sincerely hope things that things take a turn for the better and your summer improves.
OK, my back is actually, really, honestly pretty much all better now. It took longer than expected, and I haven't done any more work in the yard yet. I also was instructed to cut down my gout medicine and after a week the gout flared up again. That's almost all better now, too.

Then late last week, an ambulance pulls up and takes my neighbor to the hospital where he stayed for a few days. He's recuperating, but now he has lost his job due to so much sick time. He also mows my lawn for me with his professional lawn mower, but he had to subcontract out his several lawn care jobs while he's been feeling poorly.

Then I get the news that a good friend of ours has a bad case of cancer. His wife is limiting all phone access to him at the moment, so I'm getting my info third hand through Joan, who says that they're not sure which organ is involved, kidney or pancreas, but he can't eat, and there's "fluid in the stomach" from which they have determined that it is definately cancer. I ask if she meant "abdomen" but Joan doesn't know -- the woman said stomach. Draining of the fluid helped him to feel better -- for a day.

Then this morning at just before 1AM (I think), the local station interrupts programming with "breaking news." Ted Kennedy has died of his cancer, which has affected me more than I would have imagined.

God Speed Teddy.

Oh yeah, about my friend with the cancer.... Did I mention that his name is Teddy? 8O
I hope September 1st, my unofficial end of summer, brings you better luck, health, and news. Remember all the good times you and friend Teddy shared and accept if this is his end, you were fortunate to have him in your life.

I wish all in the Land of Never-Summerland a glorious autumn.
Ron, you and Joan and Mulligan, need to come to our house. I'll feed you chicken soup and pick up delights from the Brat Stop to make y'all feel better!
Ron, if at all possible you , Joan & Mulligan need to run away from home if only for a long weekend. What an horrible summer New England has had.
BTW, we are headed to NE & the Canadian maritime area the last week in Sept. & 1st weekend in Oct., so this is partially selfish but here is wishing you better weather
Ron: I'm happy to hear that your back is better...good nes! I'm sorry you have had such a tough Summer. I hope Autumn brings you and Joan better news and better health. :crossed:
I would like to point out that the guy across the street is a good friend and constant companion that Joan visits on her nightly walks...

Well, the problems continue. I bought a couple more toilets to install and they BOTH came missing parts. Customer service will send the parts to arrive in a few days. Whoopie.

But everything else pales in comparison with the news about my friend Teddy. All they can do is "make him comfortable", and I stopped in to visit on Saturday and he couldn't keep awake to hold a conversation, even before pain meds.

He recently retired from the police force of a smallish town here in Massachusetts, and the force was just becoming aware of his situation and starting to visit and support him and his wife, when a young 28 year old policeman with a wife and three children was struck and killed by an elderly driver (a current hot-topic here) on a construction site traffic control "detail". So the thin blue line is preoccupied with that situation now.

Crikey, can't anyone catch a break?
 :( So sorry it continues to be a tough time.
My friend passed away at the hospital today at 1PM surrounded by his family.

God speed, Teddy.

A retired police officer, Vietnam veteran, good friend, husband, father and proud "Papa" to his grandchildren who will be greatly missed by all. He was only 63.
Oh my, Ron...I'm so very sorry.
So sad ron, Teddy sounded like quite an inspirational man being a good friend, seeing the hell of Vietnam, serving the public as a policeman, god takes the good people way too early. :(

I am so sorry Ron and Joan at the loss for everyone of Teddy.

God bless your Friend.
Sorry to hear of the loss of your friend Ron.
He sounds like a wonderful person who will be greatly missed. :( I'm sure you have lots of memories of wonderful times.
Condolences to you for the loss of your friend. Special thoughts and prayer for you and those who loved him.

I'm sorry for your loss of a good friend. Those are hard to find these days.
I'm so sorry Ron :(

My grandmother passed away last night, and I lost my grandfather last month so I can empathize with the tough summer.
Ron, I am so sorry for your loss
Ron, I'm so sorry you have lost a good friend.
Oh Ron, I am so sorry for your loss. And your friend was very young. I hope his family can cope with the loss.
Thanks everyone. The wake is set for Sunday with burial on Monday, so I won't be around much for a few days.
