Ru's First Show

I have a -kind of- brag :)

We did our first show today. I was very nervous because Ru is the naughtiest dog in ringcraft and we have only been going for 4 weeks. Our breeders persuaded us to do this show saying 'you have to start somewhere' we kept saying no no no but then thought, well, we might as well throw ourselves in the deep end, it was a champ show

Ru got 1st Novice, 1st Yearling & 1st Grad. However, he was the only dog in each of those classes. But everyone said she didn't have to give us 1st, she could have placed us anywhere including 'better luck next time' so I'm still a proud sheepie mummy.

Ru was difficult to say the least, I only had to show him once to cover all three classes and the judge made me run twice  I was going too slow because he jumps all over the place if I run too fast
We got 3 rosettes, 3 certs & 3 bags of dog food.

In the unbeaten class he freaked out over something, I don't know what, but everyone said I looked really calm and controlled him well. But he hardly stayed still at all and I was a nervous wreck inside!

Here are some pics.. I've never prepared him for show before & didn't know what I was doing, hence he looks really flat and I spent all the time trying to control him, so I couldn't brush his hair in the right way. I'm just so happy we did it, our first show is over yaaay!

good for you! you did it!

i did not see tails on all. are bobtails allowed in show in the UK?
Whoo - hoo!!!!

:cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

Good job Cassie and Ru!!!

That is great that you took the plunge - and did so well. The pictures and video are great. You should be VERY proud of yourself!!! :D :D :D
Fantastic Cassie and Ru, first show is always terrifying but you two got through it well.

Being inside too for the first show is a bit daunting first time for Ru, all the usual noises of lots of doggies, people things going clang etc seem louder so it is a bit more overwhelming for them. Also a totally different enviroment for them to get use too. Syd first show was inside and took ages for him to relax, we went really early so I could just walk him around inside and have him more comfortable and settled. Ru looks great and rather then worry about the coat at the moment you did the right thing for Ru just concentrating on him behaving and you having him under controll and doing for you what you want him to do in the ring.

Good for you and now you have made it through that first show 2nd one you should be a bit more relaxed and also trying to stay not nervous means Ru will be a bit more settled then. A hit of Vino works wonders for the nerves 8)

We all have to start somewhere, enjoy and ru will too. WELL DONE TO YOU BOTH, no longer "Show Virgins."
Congratulations! :D
Congratulations Ru and Cassie :clappurple:
:D Hey, good job!!!
Congratulations!! You both did great. Good for you.

Wow, rosettes and dog food.... very cool. At our first show we just got ribbons and points. And I sooooooooooooooo want a rosette! :excited:

You did great. So when is your next show? :yay:
Congratulations Cassie and Ru.

Hope this is the first of many wins for you both!!!
Congrats Cassie, Ru looked good you should be proud of your acheivements considering this was your first of many shows maybe see you at Crufts next year.

Stewart
Congratulations!!!
What a great job you both did. :yay:
Archie gives a big congratulatory WOOF to Ru (and to Cassie and Gregg of course)

Ru probably just wanted to get friendly with all the other Sheepies ;-)

And there was you in tears over Ru's coat a month or so ago - we are all our own worse critics.

Congrats once again.

If they were docked before the cut off date (oh I made a funny) yes
I was so happy and proud for you that I had to show Mr. J too! :yay: That's wonderful!!!
Congrats!!!!
well done Cassie, and Ru! xx
Congrats! The first is the hardest.... though I still feel SO nervous at every show, I'm my own worst nightmare since the nerves travel right down the lead

Good job! :)
Congratulations Cassie and Ru! I can imagine how nervous you where. When I watched the video I think you did so brilliant, I cant see you running too fast or Ru jumping about. I've seen before on shows that some dogs have to run twice, maybe because the judge wanted to see him again! I think that's a good sign!

Fab that you won all these Rosettes!!! You must find some space on the wall now so Ru can watch them!! (and you and Greg too!!!!)

Loads of sheepie kisses from Charlie! Shame we werent there!

If you ever come to Crufts I will come over and watch it!!! xxxx
Well done to the both of you :clappurple: :clappurple: :clappurple:
Congratulations, Cassie and Rufus!! You looked very calm and collective in the video - well done!! :clappurple: :clappurple: :go:
Congratulations! You did a great job and he looks great. Whether you have competition or not, it's still awesome to walk away feeling you and your dog accomplished something and every time is a learning experience. Our first time, Owen kept trying to sit down!

Also, I think his grooming looks really good, especially for your first time and no extra fluffing. Now, even feeling confident in the ring, and Owen in control, I still have a hard time feeling like I have time to do extra poofing with a brush while we're in the ring. I feel like if I had one more hand, I could do it!

Only one?

I still haven't conquered the fluffing thing either and don't even bother bringing a brush into to ring as it's just one more thing to drop when we're moving

Cass, Ru looked great. Nice work!!!

Kristine
CONGRATULATIONS Ru & Cassie!!!!! :clappurple:

well done!!!!!!! :yay:
Good job Rub and Cassie! :high5:

That is a big deal even going into the ring and you should be quite proud of the job you did. We can't wait to see even more pictures of Ru from his future efforts in the ring.
