countdown panic

Its that magical time of the year again...the last minute countdown to my 2 biggest shows

Predictably...Im freaking out.

I have 7 days to go, until we leave, and the count goes like this:

5 original pieces to finish (all are in some relative state of near-done)
26 prints to be handcolored and matted
aprox. 100 pieces to be shrink-wrapped
34 pieces to be framed
lots and lots of packing to be done
8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O

I am doomed :(

Ok, maybe not  I know it will all come together, but not before Ive had my traditional yearly panic attack

Wish me luck? :plead:

HaHa! Isn't that always the truth. Hope it all comes together for you. :D
All the best!!! :D
AVOIDANCE is my middle name!!

Take a deep breath, get back to work and have a wonderful time at the fairs.
I think I could find a similar post from this time last year :o

Good luck, however you won't need it! You will finish your tasks, AND be successful at the shows!
  I can really relate to this! We're moving 8 hours away tomorrow and half the house isn't packed yet :sidestep:
LOL - what a bunch of procratinators!!!

But wait, you are good and work best under pressure (lets make this a BIG positive!) :D :D
Just remember if you were not freaking there would be something wrong. I wish I could be going too. Fairbanks is warm and dry, Anchorage is cool and humid. :) You always do well. :clappurple:

For the past 3 years, actually  (thats how long Ive been on the forum....the "tradition" of panicky weeping and wailing at this time of year goes back much further for me

It always works out, somehow. Bally, it'll be the same for you...at some point you'll look around and realize everything is done, and say: "Huh!? When did that happen??? :?

Im reasonably pleased with myself today...I got all my boards cut, 2 of the originals finished, most of the packing boxes built, and the dogs shaved down! Not too bad. 8)
Deadline Mania!! Ahhh the thrill of it all! :D :lmt:
You should spend next year's off season teaching your dogs to shrinkwrap. ;)
I'm sure you'll be finished in time, and if not, you'll have it nearly completed enough and figure out a way to get it done just in time. IfyaknowhatImean.

Sell something, will ya?
Honey, you panic every year...and every year you do great!

Relax and enjoy!

OMG I wish! Actually, if these guys had opposable thumbs, I'm sure this would not be their top priority!

Instead, my niece Jenny will be coming out early next week to help me shrinkwrap...her opposable thumbs have gotten her into plenty of trouble over the years...but she's a great helper  8)

6 days, and counting :twitch:
No wonder you had the long period of not being able to see a computer screen w/a major migraine! I'd lose my mind w/that much work esp. all at once!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good luck, and I hope the weather is on your side.

Not to jinx myself, or anything...but I'm up to almost 2 months with NO MIGRAINES!!!!! :yay: :yay: :yay:

Last year my big State-Fair push (headaches and all  ) was just awful. Im really looking forward to actually enjoying the shows themselves this year...instead of wanting to bloodily dismember every single musician, carnival barker, and screaming kid !!!!!!!!!
good luck to you i also do art shwos and go through the panic every time.take a deep breath
Been there and done that!!! You are going to do really well....Pace yourself, and write out a checklist so you don't forget ANYTHING....also, take extra's with you so you can do some lil' things while you are there!!! It always works for me while I'm on the road with my Art...

Packaging is the worst, so I feel your pain....Take a deep breath...ok, now go and shrink wrap!

Good Luck, Laurel! :crossed: :crossed:
You are on the Art Fair roller coaster.......

this is the panic stage of going up the hill knowing it is too late to get off ..... just before the adrenaline kicks in as you are barreling full speed ahead screaming your head off......... then to a quick neck jerking stop before you realize it is ALL OVER and somehow YOU SURVIVED!

Until you jump on the coaster to do it all over again next year.

Enjoy the ride.

 You've described it perfectly, Judi!!!

First, there's the initial overconfidence ("I'm making more than ever before! I have plenty of time!" :D )

Then comes the brutal realization that you've over booked yourself ("Nuts...I guess I'll drop this project...and this one....bummer :( )

Then, the horror, when you realize that you cant drop anything else...and there's still not enough time! 8O

So...the adrenalin finally kicks in, you discover that sleep can be considered an optional luxury, and...zoom! :twitch:

Somehow, it all gets done!

5 days and counting...and I'm just starting on my "zoom"!
Well...Ive made it to "D-day". :D

We hit the road this afternoon, and all I have left to do at this point is finish the last bit of packing and finish grooming the dogs (with a 7-8 hour drive ahead of us, Im making sure these guys are as clean and sweet-smelling as possible! ).

My internet connection in Fairbanks is a bit uncertain...so I may be outta here completely for the next couple weeks :( .

Please cross your paws for luck for me... :D
Good news that you are about ready to go on your way. Have a safe trip and have a lot of sales!!!! Good luck!
have fun, drive safe and sell lots!
Good Luck, and have fun!
I have a little phrase that I use when deadline mania sets in--somehow it helps me keep going... I just tell myself-

"You can eat when you are old--and sleep when you're dead!" :P :P
I can't believe you finished it all!! Congrats! Hope it all goes well. :)
Happy you made it and the best of luck to you
