Is there a reason

some dogs take food from their bowls and go to another room to eat? Luke is almost 8 and he has always removed some food from his bowl, takes it to the living room and eats it. He is very neat and never leaves anything behind but I find it odd, none of my other dogs do it. It isn't being possesive or anything because he doesn't get angry or growl if the other dogs come by him. I'm new here and thought someone might know-thanks

Does he follow you? Cooper will take his food from the bowl, and follow me, unless I'm somewhere where he knows I'm "cornered". I've seen posts from others that say the same thing about their dogs. Sorry, I don't remember which thread. :( Lizzie prefers carpet for her dining table....
No, Luke doesn't care where I am unless of course I'm in the kitchen making dinner then all 4 are lying on my feet. Maybe he's just weird.
Carl moves his food because Norman is the alpha and he feels that he needs to get what he can when he can and eat it in a safe place.
Both of our kids move their food. They just bring a mouthful over and lie down and eat it near where we are watching TV. It gets very messy, but they are pretty good about cleaning it all up.

No other dog we have ever had did this. These are my first sheepies. I don't really know why they do it though.
Don't you just love the silly things they do?

I feed 6 dogs all at once in the kitchen...it's kinda crowded. I or my husband stands in the middle and makes sure no one steals from another. The only one who will defend her food is the sheepie bitch, Simone. Oh, what a growler. When all is finished, I give each a dog cookie, mainly to get them outside. Well, three take their cookie and head out the door to the far reaches of the yard for privacy. The other three head for the carpet. I've put down throw rugs where they eat to catch the crumbs......nope, they just keep moving over so the crumbs fall cleard down into the pile........then they lick it clean. The rug/carpet is 32 years old so who cares, but still...........!
That's so funny that someone brought this up because I finally threw in the towel today in trying to discourage Clyde from bringing his food (piece by piece) in the living room. Now, I'm just feeding him in the living room and he's as happy as can be as long as I'm there too. Sometimes it's just easier to give in than fight it. I figure it's only dry food and now none of it ends up on the rug. I suppose it looks a little weird to visitors to have a dog food bowl in the middle of the room but, hey, it works!
Jack and Annabelle do the same thing. Their food bowls are side by side in the kitchen, if we are in the kitchen they love to eat in there. Also if they are eating together and we aren't in the room, they will still stay in there and eat. However, if just Jack or just Annie wants to eat and the other doesn't then they carry a HUGE mouthful and spit it at our feet and slowly eat the kibble and go back to bring in another huge mouthful. This is something that they both do, it is really cute. It would be nice if they would pay attention to the clean vacuumed floor, but if I can't teach that to my 4 and 7 year old, I highly doubt I can teach Jack and Annie. :D
I still think it is so funny that this many sheepies do the same thing.

STormi and co.
Stormi that is exactly what my girls do...lol...
We feed our pups on the porch. Breakfast together (because it's kibble and they don't fight over kibble) but dinner is seperate because it's meat and they will growl at each other. Well ... Farley will just look there all dumn while Abby growls and grabs. Once in a while he'll growl too.

Anywho - Abby will, from time to time, move her cookie to the dining room. I think she does this for privacy. She does love her food. (Don't we all? :D)
Our Steed used to take mouthfuls of food and wander around the house snacking. We now add about a tablespoon of wet food to their kibble. Abigail licks the wet food off the kibble, piece by piece, and spits the kibble outside the bowl. When she's done doing that, she eats the kibble. When Ashley arrived, she loved the "prizes" Abby left outside her bowl! LOL! Abby is now careful of the placement and puts the licked kibble between her paws now. They just crack me up!

Of my 4 only Rosco is a true pig. That boy will eat anything, never has a problem with digestion and will gobble his food so he can cruise past the other bowls and help himself to anything that's left. The others never care but if they have something special I make sure to hand feed it to Beau because he has a bad leg and I'm afraid he might get knocked over. Rosco's current favorite is cough drops, the only ones he won't eat are Halls, he spits them out and looks digusted. Well, at least he won't have a sore throatLOL!
When you feed Lennon and Sofa a nce, yummy treat, they take it to another room to eat it, Sofa plops on the stairs and Lennon goes behing a couch. That's when we know they really liked something.
