Ahhh the Separation Anxiety...

Hubby and myself have been home for the last three weeks - lousy weather etc has meant real bonding time for Baxter and us.... Until we go to leave the house... OMG - He won't go outside or stay inside unless your there - he's on top of you the whole time and just will not sit or stay for bribes, no bribes, angry voice, soothing voice anything ! We have never made a fuss of leaving or coming home, but since we've had this time off it's like he's joined us at the hip... Hubby started shift work today and he just knew it when he had the uniform on.... Guess we're going to have to start re-training him all over again.... 37.5kg of very stubborn and persistent puppy.... I'd love to chuck work in and just stay with him all day... Pretty sad really !

oh i feel your pain my duffy is the same way .. they need to get a life other then following us to the bathroom
The question is...who has it worse, us, or them!

When I have to be away from them, I think my separation anxiety is way worse than my dog's!

Me too!! Last holiday, two weeks in Borneo seeing orang utans and lounging by the pool. DH asked was I having a great time, my answer, yes but I wish the pets could come too!!!
I understand what you mean. We are going on vacation next week and may have to board Chauncey at a new place. We have made 2 unannounced visits, and they seem very nice....BUT, we have used the same place for 17 years ( heck, I'd spend the week there on a wonderful farm with great staff ). This week of vacation was not confirmed with Bob's work in time to get a confirmed reservation at our regular place. We are on a waiting list and they have come through for us before so say a little prayer.
We had to give a $50.00 deposit at the new place but I made sure Bob knew that it was only an insurance policy. If our old place comes through, Chaunce is going there, if not I'll be worried the whole week. He seems okay about losing the deposit since his alternative was changing our reservations and renting a pet friendly house at this late date...which we will be doing next year.
:crossed: :crossed:
Well, finally got back to work today - and yes, the separation anxiety was sooooo bad for him ( and me :( )
Guess we're going to have to persist with some retraining and try to make it easier on him again ! Poor puppy - and poor us !! Hate it !
You need another sheepei to keep him complany when you leave him
You know - you're absolutely correct - Dear partner and myself had that exact conversation last night..... He certainly needs something thats for sure.... Our last OES was quite content to stay outside and play so the extent of Baxter's loneliness has taken me a bit by surprise I must say ! Now to find his perfect match.....
