Chewbacca noises

When Katie plays with Kobe, and at various other random times she makes this sound/groan that is like a cross between Dorie's "whale" speak (Nemo!) and Chewbacca. Maybe a high-pitched cow in pain. But she's not in pain at all !! It's sometimes like she is egging Kobe on, or when they're in the middle of a rough-and-tumble.

It's so funny and odd, but I have never heard a dog make a sound like that before. I can't help but wonder if it's a breed thing or if it's our unique little Katie! LOL

It is a breed thing
awesome!! it never gets old :P
Yeah breed thing, but only a select few are so blessed. Jack is one. I try to encourage talking.......just so it doesn't escalate to barking :?
Yeah, I call it Wookie speak. Beau has always done that, too.
We call it his "wookie bark" and just thought it was a noise he made because he's deaf!

He also manages to bark normally without closing his mouth - he runs around with his mouth wide open "bark, bark, bark" when he's playing.
yup, panda does it as well.... :D and we call it wookie talk too
Now you just need to teach them how to say "I love you" in Wookiespeak.
Panda, Piper and Willy do it too but not Dancer, she's too much of a princess. LOL
LoL! I always thought Winston was crazy! But there is hope since you all say it is normal. Winston barked horribly as a puppy, and we used the coins in a can trick to stop him. Now anytime he wants anything he comes up to you and says full sentences in "wookie". I love it, but it is a pain when I'm on the phone, and the person on the other end has no idea what that crazy noise is!
Asterisk does that, too. She is very vocal. Wendel has more of a 'howl-ly' bark.
Laika makes lots of noise http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uFRMTDD2O5A

Langley doesn't make any noise when they play well the teeth snapping noise I have to get that on video sounds crazy.
Sammy did a "pigeon coo"...most peculiar but super funny. She usually did that when she was not allowed to bark. She would coo and gurgle until she could no longer stand it and then it erupts into a full bark.
:D Baloo does that too. He is super vocal. He talks to me all the time! Lily --- not as much. She only wookies if she's super into playing at that moment. She's not a talker like Baloo.

I think it's hilarious when they do this.
Riley did it too all the time as a pup. Now it's less...and I did the same thing of encouraging w/out it going into a bark. We tried to teach the command "bark" and "talk" - lets say my stubborn boy didn't want to learn that. I do miss it though...it's rare when he does it now, but I love it when he does!
Frankie just talks and talks. If you pet him or if he's playing with his rubber alligator. It's like he's being some vicious wild thing. It's so funny.
We love it. Sheepie talk
