What Fruits and Veggies?

I'm looking for a compehensive list of fruits and veggies that are not toxic to dogs. I know grapes are bad for them, but what is good? Now that Foz can't eat ice cubes I really need some good alternatives. I know he loves veggies and fruit, but I just want to make sure I give him the right ones esp if he'll receive more frequently. I don't want anything to build up inside of hm. Also ones that might not cause histamine reactions.

Thanks!

The problem is we can't predict what foods will prompt the histamine reaction. Ben reacts to green beans - I mean really, green beans? Ugggh. Nothing with garlic or onion in it.

Carrots, bananas and apples are our staples.
I think it might be easier to look at what IS toxic rather than what isn't. There really aren't too many restrictions as far as fruits and veggies go.

This is a decent toxic food list:

This one includes foods and plants:

Check with your vet first. I don't know if these will produce a reaction but we feed-

Broccoli
Cauliflower
Zucchini
Green or Yellow Beans
Asparagus occasionally
Cabbage

If allergies aren't flaring and yeast isn't a problem
we add a little bit of-
Carrots
Cantaloupe
Watermelon
Apple
Pear
Banana
When our lab became a little flabby we tricked him into thinking carrots were treats
Did you have any problems with broccoli & cabbage giving him gas?
I thought there would a lot of gassy dogs when I was told to feed those
particular vegetables but it didn't happen here. I think the key is to start out
slow when introducing a natural food. Start with a little to see how the dog
handles it, then gradually increase it. We feed both raw and cooked vegetables.
5:30am and I've got a pot of doggie vegetable stew on the stove...
Wendel loves veggies, he loves Broccoli and Carrots. Asterisk likes Carrots too.

I have her some apple once and she almost immediately threw it up. Her poor tummy does not agree with apple.

We use these and also add celery, butternut squash, peas and/or sweet potatoes to our dog's raw food. Everything goes into the food processor and is minced or pureed, dogs can't digest the veggies like we do.
Thanks, guys! I had a feeling about bananas being somewhat of an issue. I find that Foz also really likes peppers and cucumbers.

I think I have a strange dog...well, I was strange as a kid too. I would turn down cookies as a bed time snack in favor of raw green peppers  Wouldn't do that these days!
I had a sheepdog growing up that ate a banana every morning.

Are they bad for dogs? If so she didn't seem to show any signs of that.
Most dogs I've had have loved carrots and bananas, and I haven't had a dog yet who likes peas.

Willy works for banana chips

Yep that's why those get pureed into the meat mix :D

Both my dalmo and sheepie like peas. But dalmos are the biggest scabs out and Tiggy eats whatever he eats due to the competitive spirit kicking in.
Cant have someone else getting stuff and not her.
I'm curious why not carrots if yeast or allergies are a problem? And what is meant by the "histamine" reaction?
Thanks,
Diane
If I give two of my allergy dogs foods that have sugars or certain starches in them (sweet potatoes, carrots, fruit, peanut butter, etc.) when their allergies are flaring they get yeast between their toes.

The Whole Dog Journal had an article in it that said honey from a local source might be good for dogs with allergies. We have a beekeeper down the road from us so we tried it for a few days. http://oesusa.com/Darby-After-Honey.jpg I can safely say we won't be adding it again... the problem showed up about a week after.

Some dogs have no problems with these foods, others do.
Mine love fruit and veggies.

Apples are there favourite I cut them into thin slices and even use them as treat training,

Bananas have to be really ripe then they gobble them up too.

Asparagus they suck down, slurp all gone.

Brocoli is so good too I think it is the only vegie with Vitamin K in it. They get Brocoli quite a lot steamed in their din dins. :D
George likes apples and strawberries best of all.

He likes cooked carrots but won't eat them raw. 8O

He also has turnip, cauliflower, peas, sweetcorn and cabbage.
I meant to ask about berries. Are berries okay for them? I've given strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. Foz is funny with strawberries. I need to cut it into a tiny piece for him otherwise he noses it around and just licks it. Funny guy!

Growing up, my mom always gave our brittanies fruit from the garden (veggies too). They loved them! I know they had strawberries and raspberries.
You'd think I was giving out filet this morning. Foz was very excited about his zucchini and red pepers

I use a juicer it gets even more purred. I have been told to go lower on the fruit side of veg though.
