Billy Mays too?

Wow, Billy Mays died today. There's been a lot of celebrity deaths lately, huh? He was 50, just like MJ. This is getting rather disturbing....

just read it. says plane had a front tire blow out on landing. he had hit his head but seamed ok.
this makes 5 now. scary....
creeepy. reminds me of natasha richardson.. hope he didnt have what she had (walking coma).
Ok..I didn't see this topic, when I posted the following...

Do you know who Billy Mays is (was)? He was the Oxi-Clean pitchman. He was a obnoxious! Very loud, and crass.

But, he was a family man, and only 50 years old...and he died today.

They don't know the cause of death....but he was on a plane yesterday, and hit his head...when he came home, he didn't feel well, and went to sleep..never awoke.

I hated his commerical, but I bet he was a good man. My heart goes out to his family. RIP, Billy...and stop yelling. G-d can hear you now.

What is going on this week?
I would zip past his TV show about pitchmen, wasn't interested.

Actually that's a nice way to go, bump on the head, go to bed, not wake up.
you can add 2 more.
Gail Storm who played on I Love Lucy
and Fred Troualena ( aman of a thousands faces)
total is now 7
I wonder if they'll play his infomercials all week long now.

I saw him on Conan just the other day with that Australian (sp??) guy who is also known for doing the same thing as him (I don't know specifics b/c I was half asleep), and it was hilarious. They were both trying to sell their products at once, and I guess you had to see it to find the humor.

I didn't hear about these other two.

I don't think Gale was on the I love lucy show. She had 2 of her own shows, "My little Margie" and "the Gale Storm Show". I cannot picture her, but I remember my parents, and of course my sister and I , watched her shows. I had to be very, very young then.

I don't know who Fred is. I'll have to look him up.

Too many deaths.....so sad.
your right deb, it was the gail storm show!
I am wrong.
it was on cnn website
I was just showing Fred Travelena stuff to Joan a month or two ago. Man, I used to love that guy.

How old was he, about 55 maybe?

I also saw Billy Mays on the show (with Joan, very uncommon for her to watch late night TV with me). Yes, Billy Mays' pitch was obnoxious, but I always thought that all of the stuff he did after Oxy-clean was with a wink and a nod.

Like he said on the show -- it's not "yelling," it's "projecting."
I like to imitate his cadence when I am suggesting a pitch man when telling a story -- "But call me -------- RIGHT now and I'll send you..."
Ron he was 66 and had cancer
was reading yesterday - billy mays didn't actually die from the blow to his head - the autopsy showed no sign of head trauma (i too was expecting it to be like natasha richardson's)...he had heart disease and they think he died of a heart attack in his sleep. =/

very sad. :(
Arthur watches the show "Pitchmen" on Discovery channel which he starred in.... Although people thought he was loud and obnoxious, everything he pitched sold by the millions. I'm stunned that he passed....something about an enlarged heart, heart disease....

Today they released that cocaine use was a contributing cause of death. 8O Guess he partied hard.
Interesting.....
Wow! No wonder he was so hyper all the time!
It is a shame what these drugs do...people start innocently enough and before they know it, they're addicted and the damage is done...He was super hyper...I have to admit, I bought some of the stuff he sold on tv!
Whatever, he went too young...May he rest in peace.

The father of my children had the same problem. He was an incredibly successful business man. He died at 49...killed his liver. My kids will never forgive him, but will always love him.

I will never forgive myself for not doing more to stop the madness. You know...shoulda, woulda, coulda....

Drugs and alcohol are sometimes stronger than the strongest of us.

Just like my ex...Billy will find a special place in heaven..because his addiction really wasn't of his chosing, but his weakness.
