Grape Salad Recipe

I've heard from others that this has been around awile, however, I just made it last weekend for the first time. It was GREAT!

2 pounds red seedless grapes
2 pounds green seedless grapes
8 ounces cream cheese - softened
8 ounces sour cream
1/2 cup sugar

Mix cream cheese, sour cream and sugar together until smooth. Pour over clean grapes and mix well. Turn into a 13x9 inch pan.

Topping:

4 finely crushed Butterfinger bars
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup peanuts crushed fine

Crumble over grape mixture and press lightly. Chill. enjoy

The recipe calls for the grapes to remain whole. Personally, I think they should be chopped or cut in half. What ever works for you :)

Ohhhhhhh my gosh... wow, considering how much I've been gaining, I am SO glad I don't have butterfingers in the house right now. I think without the topping, it would still taste great w/o being too sweet. I'm glad you shared. I had never heard of this before.

It reminded me of a carmel apple... very tasty!

And you are right, the dressing itself is wonderful. I was thinking of using it for a mixed fruit salad. Yum.

It taste like a Carmel Apple...I'm there. One of the highlights of my trip to Michigan was stopping at Blakes Cider Mill and buying a Carmel Apple! They are the best and I did control myself by only buying one.

I will, indeed, try this recipe.
This lady at work makes this for me all the time with FF cream cheese and sour cream and it's awesome. No toppings though-- none needed. It's delicious on its own!
That sounds really good--and it is different. I will give it a try-THANKS!
The first time I had this, I was a guest at Grannie Annie's house (after the picnic last year).

It was wonderful. Very refreshing. Now, I make it frequently with ff cream cheese and ff sour cream.
My Aunt Debbie makes this salad and uses brown sugar/walnut/something else for a topping. I had it once at a bridal shower and fell in love. My love handles are quite fortunate that I lost the recipe (until now that is!)!
Do you think this is more of a midwest thing? We never had fruit salads like this growing up. None of the BBQs or picnics had stuff like this.
I do love grape salad .. especially with Red Flame and Green seedless both!

(Necessary reminder -- keep those grapes and raisins away from your dogs!!!)

The lady that introduced me to it is from Los Angeles. Maybe you were just fruit salad deprived. ;)

I guess so! I guess I just didn't associate with the right people. 8)

Me, too, Laurie, until I was in Boston!
Yup... we love our Concord Grapes, as well. But they don't do well in cold salads unless you like to eat seeds. :D
Wow...that sounds soooo yummy! :D It reminds me of a recipe Scott makes for parties, receptions etc: We call them "Rolled Grapes"...take green seedless grapes, rinse and dry them very completely, then coat each one individually in a mixture {50-50} of cream cheese and goat (borson) cheese...then roll them in crushed pistachios...TONS of work, but soooo worth it! 8)
I made this over the weekend with non-fat cream cheese and non-fat sour cream. I didn't put the topping on. It was delicious! Tasted like cheesecake filling. And it got me to eat grapes!
I love it too. Think I'll make it this coming weekend.
Made it for a 4th of July party. I was true to the recipe other than fat free sour cream and cream cheese. Rave reviews all around. 8)
