Hattie

Hattie has a High hip score. and She has been having a few problem over the last few months.. She has stop wanting to go out for walks. just sitting and pulling back on the lead. We thought something had spooked her. But over this time shes been going for Maizie too.. for no reason So I took her to the vets on friday and she said she is uncomfortable on her left hip so she has been on rimadyl for a few days, which i think helped a little but today Hattie went for maizie again, for no reason maze just walked past her, then hattie went for her and they both had a go! at each other. Poor maizie is so layed back! and didn't really know what she had done!!! Anyway I rang the vet and I'm getting Hattie xrayed tomorrow to see whats going on Im sure she is in Pain as this is not like her!!! Ive had her now for 2 years and the girls have both been fine... So I think hattie is in pain. Will know tomorrow how the xrays go...

The girls at Sheepie day saw how she was, didn't want to walk with us and steve had to take her home...

Just hope they can help her...

I love both my girls... I'm just sad that maizie is getting picked on for no reason.. I really don't think hattie means to be like this...

I am so sorry kim!
hope all goes well and she is back to her own self soon. :ghug:
It does sound like she's hurting and is most probably why she's lashing out. Poor Maze just happens to be the easiest target. :(

I hope the vet is able to get her some relief for her pain and she's back to her normal sweet self soon.

I agree.
Poor sweethearts. Hope you can it all sorted out quickly. :crossed:
Hope you can find out what is making Hattie grumpy, poor sweetie and poor maisie too.

Best wishes at the vets keeping fingers crossed for you all. :ghug:
:(

Aww poor Hattie. She must really be in pain to be taking it out on her sister.

We had Mopsy on Rimadyl and it seemed to really help her. We will keep our fingers and paws crossed that the vet can do something to help her.

:ghug:
Oh Kim, I am sorry to hear Maizie is not feeling well, and hopefully the vet can find out and it can be easily fix.

Poor Hattie, probably is so baffled. Hugs to you, I'm sure you are worried.

Let us know as soon as you find out, will be thinking of you and the girls.
I'm sorry to hear that Hattie is having this pain. I hope the x rays show a solution. Poor Maizie the brunt of the pain. Hattie must be in a lot of pain because she is usually such a gentle girl.

Let us know Kim what the out come is.

Hugs to all!
Special thoughts for Hattie--- :ghug: And Hugs for Maize.
Kim, I wil keep everything crossed for Hattie.

I hope it is somthing that can quickly be put right.

Hugs to you all
Hopefully the vet will check from nose to tail because the problem could be anywhere, not just a hip problem. Ear problem would make her dizzy and unwilling to walk for fear or tipping. Eye problem could be partial blindness and she is startled easily. Abdomen problem could be a tummy ache. Granted, hips or spine are the most logical areas, but don't discount all else. Have a blood panel drawn as well in case it's internal.
:( My heart is aching for Hattie. Hope the vet can sort it all out for her :ghug:
We went to the vets last nite to find out the results of Hattie's Hip Xray she has Hip Dysplasia in both hips, :( That is the reason why she had stopped wanting to go out for walks Poor baby.. :( She is now on treatment, which will help her loads, She's also going to have acupuncture and Hydrotherapy which will help the muscle, around her hips.

She is going sunday for aquatic treadmill. I will let you now how she gets on..
That is a bummer but I guess at least it is one of those things that can be managed, unlike some other conditions. The aquatic treadmill was great for Chumley, followed later by weekly swimming appointments in a tank. I hope Hattie enjoys it. It is great for building up strength in a non-impact way. I hope this intervention is all she needs to be her normal bouncy self again.
oh no, I'm so sorry for Hattie!

It sounds like you have a good plan of action though and I'm sure she will do great. Please keep us updated with her progress!
So sorry to hear she was diagnosed with hip dysplasia, Kim. Hattie is lucky to have you and Steve to provide such good care for her.

Please keep us posted on her progress. :-)

:ghug:
Our vet wanted to do water therapy for Mopsy but no such place existed in our area back then.

I bet it will do wonders for her.

:ghug:
I am soo sorry about Hattie...I hope she feels better very soon. It sounds like, at least now you have a plane of action... Millie my beardie was on Rimadyl then Duremax... both help immensely!!! We also took her for acupunture. Although really expensive (this was over 8 years ago) after about 3 visits, we could see a great improvement!!! Unfortunately, we didn't have hydrotherapy in our area at the time...

Good Luck...give Hattie a gentle squish from Heart :hearts: ..All crossed for a speedy recovery... :crossed: :crossed: :crossed: :crossed:
So sorry to hear about Hattie.... sounds like you're on the right track to helping her feel her best though :ghug:
Thank you for the update on Hattie, Kim. I was wondering how things went at the Vet. It sounds like you have a good plan of action for your girl. Hopefully she will be feeling better soon.

Hugs to Hattie and you.
Thanks for updating about Hattie, poor girl. Hopefully now you'll be able to get her comfortable and manage it.
Poor Hattie :(
But it's great that you are able to help her out. Give her a squish from us.

Hope Hattie enjoys her swimming lessons tomorrow!! :ghug:
Oh bless her. At least she seems to be getting sorted, I hope the treatment helps her and she is more comfortable...xx
Thinking about Hattie--Hope the treatment helps.
We took Hattie yesterday for her 1st Hydrotherapy she went in the aquatic treadmill. My sheepie like to swim but it took a bit of time for her to get use to walking on the treadmill Bless... The Pain killers seem to be working, She's much happier in herself, now.

Will keep you posted.
Thats good news.

Hopefully it can be brought under control and she will be back to her self again soon.
Glad to hear she is much happier in herself :D
Just catching up after being away a few days. Poor Hattie! I hope the hydrotherapy works. I truly believe swimming is what kept Drez going as long as she did. They can finally move without pain. Keeping my fingers crossed for you guys! A big hug to Hattie, please! :ghug:
Hugs for hattie, glad they found what was making her cranky, keeping fingers crossed for her with the Hydrotherapy.

Is hattie on supplements to help her like glucosamine/chondroiton, cant hurt her only will help benefit her situation in the longer term of things.
Yes Lisa shes on Glyco.flex III and Previcox for the pain.. She seems to be happy on these, Such a difference from last week.. Off to the treadmill again on thursday. and acupunture on friday. :)
Give your Water Baby a hug from us :ghug:

So glad to hear she seems happier in her self. :D Let's know too how the accupunture goes, interested to hear
Just an update on Hattie.... She's really working hard now on the treadmill. I didn't think she would take to it. :) but shes in 17" of water now and is up to 7 mins of walking... She seems happy in herself too, she still has the odd snap at poor maizie for no reason. I just think she must just get pain and if maizie is in her space, she trys to protect herself...
Its a good job Maizie is soo layed back!!! But last time hattie caught her nose and maizie didn't like it, so she told her... :)
I am glad that Hattie is doing so well with the hydrotherapy.

How does she act when you arrive at the place? Does she act like she wants to go in or does she act hesitant like some dogs do with the vet?

Hugs to Maizie for being for the most part very tolerant.
Yeh glad to hear she is doing well
Oliver did hydrotherapy for his HD as well.

It really helped not only build the muscle, but also even the mass between legs. I am a huge supporter of the hydrotherapy as well as the glucoseamine supplements. Just seeing the changes in Oliver makes me a believer.

Oliver got to a point we had to start rewarding him during his walking with yummy treats. He got so bored in the tank! Our vet measured his hips every week and tested his range of motion. We finally got to point after about 6 months that he gave us at home exercises that would futher develop Oliver's muscles. Things like pivoting exercises, sit/stand, walking.

Good luck. I hope it really helps Hattie!
