Picking up the Doggie Dish for Dinner

Mulligan is trained to bring his dinner dish to us at dinner time. Well, trained is a bit of a stretch, he'll do it on command if he guesses which room it is in, or if we give him visual hints. (He can't seem to recall where it is. ) It is a heavy giant and bottom weighted plastic dish with molded flares as handles, and he usually has a little bit of difficulty in figuring out how to best pick it up to carry it.

Anyway, Joan and I left Mullie at home for a few hours while we were convertible shopping (no luck there....) and when we came home we brought some takeout Chinese food with us for our dinner. It was difficult to get him to go out for a quick pee, but he went and as soon as he was released from his duties, he made a beeline back into the house.

He was told to get his dish and he made a beeline for it, grabbed it on the dead run, carried it just like Snoopy at a full trot back to the kitchen food station. As he approaches, I start to get worried because he's moving pretty quickly, when all of a sudden he goes into a sit with the bowl upright in his mouth and he's doing a full slide towards me in this seated position, with the occasional backpedal tossed in.

He came to a stop in the perfect position, got his reward for bringing the dish and then got his delicious kibble dinner.

I wish I had this on video... He musta been hungry!

 I wish you had had a camera that would have been something to see
HOW on earth did you train him to do this????
Great trick!
why do they do such cute things when no camera is in sight
I sometimes think that i need to have the camera on my neck at all times.

great trick Ron. mine just come and stare at me till I get up...........
Haha! If only Ru was that enthusiastic about food. He had fresh roast chicken in his bowl for dinner last night & still won't eat it this morning
OH GEEsh.... wish it was caught on camera!!! LOL
Just how many hours were you away?? That guy was either super hungry or wanted some of the Chinese take out.......probably both.

Jack will grab his bowl, still with food, and leave with it if he feels his dinner is threatened. Yes, we still have food issues.
Vic will occasionally do that. Ain't food a great motivator?
I'm sure Mulligan's form was much better though. I give
that a 10 on the adorable scale.
