Our Dear Abby

It is with much sadness that I write to let you, my new friends, know that we helped our dear Abigail cross over the bridge today at approx 1:10PM. She and her brother have been with us since they were pups and helped us through some of the darkest hours of our life. Her gentleness and tolerance with young children was amazing. She enjoyed nothing more than to lay next to you and be cuddled. Her brother Belvedere is now our solace in this time of mourning. Please think of us today and we come to grips with our loss.

We are a middle aged couple who could not have children and these two wonderful OES's were our companions, friends, and special children.

Thanks to all of you who had encouraging words to help us in making the decision that was best for our dear Abby.

Abby was 12 1/2 years old...

How sad. I'm sorry for your loss.

Yes, they are very special creatures, bonding to our hearts so tightly. Good bye sweet Abby, you brought many years of happiness, I hope you are free now to be an eternal puppy.
I'm so sorry for your loss. It is such a hard thing to do. Thank you for being so strong for Abby.

I am so sorry for your loss. You have showed dear Abigail your eternal love and devotion by being so self-less at this time. She needed you one last time and you gave her what she needed. My heart breaks for you in your time of sorrow.

I shed tears for you. I am so sorry for your loss. So many of us have been there. I have had to put down 3. My heart goes out to you. Remember how much love you gave her and made her happy. She will be in your heart always. She is up there in heaven playing and in no pain.

I am so sorry. :ghug:
So sorry to hear about Abby's passing. Think about all the good times. I know that is what Abby would want you to be doing. I'm sure you wouldn't trade those times & memories for anything. Remember: Better to have loved & lost than to never to have loved at all. We set ourselves up for this everytime we take in a new one. But if you really think about it, it is well worth it. :ghug:
I am so sorry for your loss. Until your heart heals, you can lean on us. We have big shoulders. Give Belvedere extra hugs tonight from me.

I'm so very sorry for your loss of your very special Abby.

We are all here for you to lean on - we all have needed these special shoulders of forum friends at some point. :ghug:

Although right now it doesn't feel like your heart will ever heal, it will. Let yourself grieve fully and soon Abby's memories will make you smile instead of cry. And when you're ready, we'd love to hear Abby and Belvedere stories and see pictures!
I am so sorry to hear of the hard decision you had to make.
You did the best by your girl.
It is never easy...
I am so sorry

I'm really sorry to hear of your loss, time heals all :( :D
Just wanted to thank everyone on this forum for your sympathy and kind words. It is helping greatly as we make it day by day after the passing of Abby. Belvedere is slowly getting used to life without his sister and we are glad he is still in relatively good health and still with us. I will try to work on some pictures later on. Here is a link to a memorial I wrote about her which shows her picture. http://oeshpdog2.xanga.com/704830877/in-loving-memory/
Sorry to hear of you loss
