Good dog, great strangers, sad story, mostly

Hi, I'm Uncle Albert, pardon the strange dinosaur looking hair cut. My head has a much nicer shape.

My known history begins about 2 weeks ago. I had been hanging around a truck stop in Nephi Utah for about a week, looking for somebody to scratch my nub, toss me a bit of kibble and tell me everything was going to be OK. My coat didn't look so great, long dirty, matted with a big thick chain around my neck. But everyone that stopped to talk to me said I must be a great dog, just look at those eyes. I figured if I just stayed around where all the people were, somebody would know just what I needed.

I was patient waiting for the person that would know what I was suppose to do. I slept outside, dodged cars and trucks, and dreamed about that person.

Then one afternoon, this lady and man looked at me, knew I was a Sheepdog in the wrong circumstances and scooped me into the car. They asked questions about me, then fed and gave me water. They told me I was going to the local shelter because that's where my owners would go to ask if their wonderful Sheepie had been found. I heard the Man say to the shelter manager, If he is not claimed in the required time, the Man would return and pick me up.

I stayed in the shelter where they fed me everyday and I was dry and warm. My "owners never came looking for their wonderful Sheepie. One day I heard the voice of the Man who picked me up at the truck stop. My nub wiggled and I barked, loud and long.

I didn't need an engraved invitation to jump in the back of the Man's car. A Beatles song was playing as we started down the road and the Man said, you need a name and I think it will be Uncle Albert (even though I'm a Rolling Stones kinda guy, he didn't know).

We drove the long 3 1/2 hours to his home. The next day the Woman and Man took me to the groomer and she shaved me down so far, I ended up with the itchy's. Then it was a trip to the vet who gave me all my shots and told the Man and Woman that I was 3-4 years old and healthy other than the marks from the chain which would heal quickly.

When we got back to the house, the Man and Woman told me they were going to find something called a rescue. It took a couple of days to get an answer from the rescue (just long enough for me to Sheepie my way into the Mans heart).

My wonderful Man and Woman told me they were going to take me to the rescue because they couldn't keep me. We went for a ride and I got to meet new people and ride in a different car, it was all very scary.

I leaned against the Man while he talked to the rescue people and asked so many questions about how I would be placed and cared for. He told them all about me, most of it sounded kinda bad, no training, few manners, questionable potty training, needs neutering, who would want me?

As he gave my leash to the rescue person, he said I want him to keep the collar I bought for him, it's just the right color and he deserves to have something nice. The Man didn't want to have any of the $300 he spent to help me. He also said, if we really can't find the best home for him to call (he'd been bitten by the Sheepie bug) :D

So far this rescue thing isn't so bad. I'm in a house with three other Sheepies and TWO CATS! The rescue Woman says I have a high prey drive, what ever that is, all I know is I want to eat that cat. I get food, treats, bones, and walks. I have to wear this funny band around my tummy, but that's OK, it seems to keep peace in the house.

So in the long run, I did the right thing. I hung around until the most perfect, wonderful Man and Woman showed up and they made every thing OK.

A 'Sheepie-Angel'!!--Thanks for taking care of this guy. He is a handsome boy!
Sad
Happy ending though...now he is safe! :D
 Poor little boy
I can't wait to hear new of his furever home
Funny Band around his tummy?

What is that?

Is it because he was fixed? or because he was not fixed ?

He wears a belly band to save my carpet and furniture and most anything else in the way when he lifts his leg. When he arrived his house training was shakey at best, and a livingroom chair took the first shot. I'm thankful for slipcovers.

But that was several days ago. Now our little prince is starting to ask at the door for potty breaks. He still wears the "pee band" just in case. He had to go to the vet to be treated for dermatitis and that means steroids and lot more pee.

I wish there were more people in the world like the folks that saved Albert. They are indeed Angels.
We're so sorry, Uncle Albert, that you had such a bad experience, but so so glad your Sheepie Angel came along.
Albert update!

Albie has been neutered, his dermatitis has disapeared, and potty training is going very well.

So in a nutshell, this great baby boy (younger than previously thought) is ready for his furever home! He will be traveling on Friday to stay with the great folks at Colorado OES Rescue.

I'm gonna miss this boy. The cats, not so much.

:cheer: :cheer:
If anyone in the Colorado/NM/WY area is looking for a wonderful young Sheepie, Albert is still with the rescue. This sweet boy is staying in a kennel because CO OES has hit it's max capacity and a backlog of 4 more waiting to come in. Please let your friends know this boy is great! (except for his thing with cats :D )
I am with Colorado Rescue, and have the honor of escorting Albert to a new home tomorrow. The family visited with him last weekend, fell in love (easy to do!), and arrangements have been made. Things are looking up for this wandering boy.
Woo Hoo for Albert!!!!
That's great news. :clappurple:

Ditto that - YAY!
Albert is coming back. He wasn't mouthy or agressive when I fostered him. I have a feeling his current circumstances aren't the best.

That's too bad :( . Wonder how much of the problem was caused by the kids?
Perhaps they weren't consistent enough with training? I know that Sidney is a bit more mouthy whenever we first pick her up from the coowner's house. She is treated like royalty and doesn't have as much discipline so the first couple days back always involve her trying to herd us and take our hands. She always settles down after a day or two of constant obedience. I hope this is what happened to Albert! Good luck boy!!!

Considering issues that came up with the family before, I think this may be the problem.

If we don't take Albert back into rescue, he will be put down. Difficulty is, he has now been branded as a biter and will need a home with no exposure to kids. Not an easy task.

Bette is looking at a rescue ranch, but it is very expensive to place a dog. Just a gut feeling, he will be fine with the right family.
Paul McCartney said it best............
We're so sorry Uncle Albert, but theres no one left at home
and I believe I'm gonna rain.
We're so sorry Uncle Albert, but we haven't heard a thing all day.
We're so sorry Uncle Albert, but if anything should happen we'll be sure
to give a ring.
Live a little, be a gypsy..................(AND YOU WERE)
NOW YOU DESERVE A LOVING HOME AND IT'S ON IT'S WAY.
Thank God for rescues, good people and sheepies.
If closer, Molly would of had a brother.......................Best of everything
Uncle Albert!

Almost all of it, I would assume.
Poor guy... he is beautiful. I hope he finds another home soon!
