What is everyone reading? Just finished "the Glass Castle"..one of the best books ever, 5 star recommendation. First Family by Baldacci was pretty good, another King and Maxwell book. I do have Wicked Prey set aside for the beach..... Suggestions?

I just finished Emily Giffen's book "Something Blue". It was a great quick guilty pleasure read. I'll read the rest of her books after I finished the 4th Twilight Series book which I just picked up from the library.
If Asterisk would quit closing my books on me when I'm reading, I would like to read the following:

Finish - Darkley Dreaming Dexter
Start - Atlas Shrugged

If there's time, I'll read some of Terry Pratchett's disc world series.
I have started reading a new author for me--Lee Childs.
Read the first two and loved them.
I've got several books by Karen White set aside to read. I need to finish The Historian. I got started a few months ago and then got sidetracked and never finished it.
I am waiting for book 4 of the Twilight series as well from the library.

Another good series (totally different) I have been reading is the Virgin River series by Robyn Carr.
well my main reading is 40 years of Old English Times, in my down time I am reading the No#1 Ladies Detective Agency series (at work during lunch breaks) and I have ordered just about ev ery Beach reading book form Amazon with Beah or sumemr or island in the title :D :D for reading when ever I get down tot he beach at the lake to read. Oh and right now on my must read pile on the coffee table is the dog massage book assigned by Marley's rehab therapist  must get to that and the sheepherding book I was going to read this winter

Oy I need to win the lottery so I have time to read :P Guess you have to play first though don't you?
Reading the second book New Moon in the Twilight series.....any good reviews on it from you all?

Nope. I enjoyed the first book a lot and third one was good as well. I didn't really enjoy book 2 but felt that I had to read it. So, it was a speed read.
I use to read all the time. Now my favorites are cookboks with stories added. just ordered 2. can't wait.

You won't have time for any more books this summer if you're going to commit to Atlas Shrugged, lol. I've been lugging around The Fountainhead for a few weeks and have been trying to get motivated to read it.

Light reading: Just finished the latest Sookie Stackhouse book by Charlaine Harris. Fun and easy read. I also enjoyed the Watchmen graphic novel.

More thinking required: I'm reading several books by J.G. Ballard, one is a collection of short stories and the other is Crash, which I had been reading on a plane but I actually put it away because it was so disgustingly explicit. I found it fascinating but the guy next to me was reading over my shoulder and gave me a look like I was a sicko. I will readily admit, Ballard isn't for everyone. Some of the short stories are more sci-fi-ish in nature.
As ususal, like I have done for as many summers as I can remember, I start out reading "To Kill a Mockingbird". I love it as much as I did the first time I read it... in 9th grade! Just started it last night.

Then- I will move on to some trash novel ( :P ) and then something with a bit more substance  .

Glad for this post offerring suggestions. :)

LOL I have been trying to finish War and Peace ever since my DD gave it to me about 20 years ago
I read the fountainhead years ago. I loved the first few books, but the last book, was a little bit of a let down. My guy has been telling me that Atlas Shrugged, is by far the more engrossing and brilliant of the two.

Did you hear that they are making a movie out of it, and of all people, they are thinking of having Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt play the leads?

I did! I can deal with her but I think they need a different guy.
I thought the movie was coming out this year, but it has been postponed. I can't really see it being a mainstream smash. Ayn Rand's themes tend to be a bit on the heavy side.

The 150 + page speech at the end would take 3 hours!

Atlas Shrugged, on my top 10 list of fav's. 8)

This month I enjoyed
Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert
The Language of Bees by Laurie King (interesting take off on Sherlock Holmes)
5000 Year Leap by W. Cleon Skousen
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak (fascinating, story of a young child in Nazi Germany told by the Grim Reaper) 8O

In the Kindle holding Pen.
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith
anyone have a kindle? i have had mine for a year and love it! the large print helps me read in bed without my reading glasses. i just finished reading "The Beach House" by Jane Green. Also the series of women detective stories by Paterson is great - just finished the 8th in the series.
A thought provoking book - One Second After - very interesting - could not put it down.

The new book by Demille - sequal to The Gold Coast is a fun read. "The Gate House.

If you use a kindle the dogs cannot close your book! ha!
I've wanted a Kindle for ages. I just saw that they came out with a Kindle 2, and it looks wonderful!

As much as I want one, I have to put money aside for a grooming table first... argh.
I have had a Sony E-Reader for 2 1/2 years now and I love it! I work for an airline and spend a lot of time traveling to Africa. I also tend to be away from home for long periods of time and not having to lug 12-15 books with me is great Keeps the weight in the baggage down! I also just finished reading Patterson's latest "Woman's Murder Club" book and enjoyed it. Easy airplane reading. Also have been reading the #1 Woman's Detective Agency" series. I love this since I often travel in Botswana and can relate to the locations. Right now I am reading "Three Cups of Tea", which I am really enjoying. It is about a guy whole failed to reach the summit of K2 and what the outcome was. Very good read so far. Happy reading!
