Another close shave ....

People may wonder why do we have an OES if we keep him clipped all the time. Well, if we didn't live on the Dutch coast and if Oliver didn't play on the beach every day then we would love to have him in full coat but sand and sea and mud makes for a damp, filthy, matted sheepie. When we move back to London next year we may well try for the long coat again but meanwhile, here are the before and after shots from the latest clipping. Whatever some may think, I think he looks fabulous! And he honestly seems to love it - he is friskier, more active, and generally more energised with shorter hair. For reference, he is 20 months old and weighs about 95lbs (43 kilos).

So, the before shot, looking more "sheepish" than "sheepie:

And the after shot. This guy could be a model!

He's adorable and asl long as he can have his fun on the beach, why not? He looks so sweet either way. 8)
At 20 months long or short coated they are big loonies anyway Archie is 22 months next week, and even with the warm weather we have enjoyed here the last month it hasn't stopped my full coated nutcase tearing about I some time think he has GreyHound in him when I watch him running about.

As for mud try reed bed mud for some reason Archie thinks it is a beauty treatment - god does it stink or what!
Hes Beautiful, and looks great either way!
He looks great :D
Chewie would prefer the water freindly cut as well!
Handsome boy :)
awwwwwwww he is adorable.. I love his short coat.. and very practical given he gets to romp and run on the beach every day.
He is beautiful! And although many people here love and prefer the full coat, I love the shorter coat better. Easier maintenance and cooler for the dog. I could always tell when it was time to clip Drez down because she minded even the mildest of warm temps so much, so she was never in full coat. Our current girl, Sammie, just got her first trim about a month ago and I think she looks fabulous! To each their own, I say.
I think he looks great as well.
I live in south Texas and both of my boys are kept short. Currently, it's 94 degrees Fahrenheit and the expected high this Saturday is 99. It's just too hot to keep these guys in a full coat.

As a matter of fact, I was planning on shaving Duncan this weekend. He hasn't had a haircut since early April, and he is definitely looking wooly.
He looks great. A shave is easier than trying to get the red out of the coat anyway!
Oliver's face is so adorable. :aww:

He truly looks great both ways.
What a cutie!! He is handsome with his haircut!! :D
He's a handsome fellow
Love the haircut! Can you tell me what number blade you used? I want to clip my own down for the summer.
Thanks.
He looks adorable. As long as he is comfortable and happy, that's all that matters.
