Rubbing head on wall corners

Barney likes to rub his head/mouth area on our wall corners or on door jams. It is ruining the paint. He does it I assume to scratch that area. Any suggestions to get him to stop?

He stills wears the cone most of the time but the second it comes off and he's alone, I hear the scraping.

Oh, I don't know how to stop this either but it drives me crazy (even if it's not ruining our paint).

Me screaming noooo.. is the best advice I've got. 8)
You could try thinning the undercoat on these areas to see if it helps, also inspect for any seeds that may have buried themselves in the skin
I don't think you can stop it. Maybe put up those plastic wall protectors on the corners. They might be rounded so he might not get as good of a scratch and it will protect the paint.

Foz rubs his head on the couch and the carpet

Barney does that too  I guess since we're in the process of painting the house I'm more sensitive to the paint on the walls since it takes FOREVER to do!
Cats do it to leave their scent. I noticed certain areas that are darker on the wall and then one day noticed a cat rubbing there GROSS!
Edgar did this too in our last house. I would have to wash off dark areas from him. In our new house, we solved the problem by knocking out all the walls so all we have are studs everywhere. Now he rubs himself on the bed instead.

P.S. I might be joking about the reason but I wish I was joking about the no-walls thing.
Maybe it just feels good. Every morning Glacier and Jack run their way down the hall to the front door for first call. For them it's a wake-up thing. MO will do it if she's wet.

Don't ask about the walls..........
Pirate does this on our couch. They're just nuts!
The couch has to feel better than their nails! You cover more area.

And he runs while he's doing it. It's pretty gross, actually  And...his whiskers and facial hair look bezerk when he's done!
It's usually due to either an itchy or wet face.

Have you seen those clear plastic things you put on corners to protect them?
We had some a long time ago... removed them the last time we painted.
They usually have an adhesive backing.

That made me laugh :D
I always think when Foz scratches his chin with his back foot it looks like it hurts. He totally goes to town whacking his head around.
Tiggy gets on the couch to rub her head on the back rest and then her face down between the back of the couch and the cushions. I must try to get a photo of her after she's done it. Pony tail nearly out and wild bed hair all over.
I sorta figured out why Sunny was doing something similar.

She walks down our hallway wall and smears her face along it every morning after being let out of the kennel. Then she takes a big drink of water and does it again, this time smearing water all over it. You'd think it would clean up the eye goobers that she leaves from the first smear, but no, it makes it worse. And her lips squeak on the wall like sneakers on a gym floor!!! I gotta say, it's entertaining. She recently expanded her path to the baby's play pen, then to our occasional chair, then all the way to the couch. I put my foot down with the couch, so she cuts it off around the play pen now. I've learned that if I don't clean the eye goobers off right away, they petrify and become part of the decor.

So, I figured it out that it's her eye goobers that she's trying to dislodge from her fur. I always clean her up (about 2-3 times a day it seems!), but it was always after her wall tirade. But one day I grabbed her and cleaned the eye goobers up right away so they wouldn't get on the wall, and then she didn't even do the wall smear! So now we've noticed that if she doesn't have eye goobers, no wall smearing. Maybe that's what Barney is doing?

FASCINATING!!!!!!!!!! Ohhhhhh :bulb: that could be it!!! We have this very silly problem as well. Fortunately, it isn't the end of the world because my husband is a house painter. LOL! But still, it is gross. I try to keep the walls cleaned up but MY GOD....OES's are dirty. And keeping my house and floors and ohhhhh WINDOWS or DOORS clean               WHAT A JOKE!!!
Nigel rubs his face and head on everyone and everything. The couch, the bed, the walls, the cabinets, people's legs or any other part of the body he comes in contact with. I think he is wiping his face, and he also does it right after I brush him or redo his top knot. Just a very silly boy.
