Well, we officially have a Watch Dog!! We've wanted Sunny to be out of the kennel at night for watch dog purposes for a long time, and I finally (she's 1 and a half) got the courage to let her spend the night roaming free 2 nights ago, and last night. And.....success!! Nothing was destroyed, peed on or misplaced! Yay Sunny!! She did wake us up very early to notify us that something had moved outside of the front door (we live in a townhouse, and she's taken up the role as the townhouse complex watchwoman). But we just hollered down the stairs "It's ok Sunny" and she calmed down to a few low "bruff, bruff" barks (I still think she sounds like a chicken clucking when she does this). Yay Sunny, she can be trusted alone with the house-I think! Now I wonder if I could leave her out during the day when she's more active. Hmmm, might have to wait another 1 and a half years, not sure.
Does anyone else's OES have a "clucking" like bark when they're just barely barking, sort of the warning noise before the bark or after they've calmed down from more serious barking? It's so funny, such a huge dog sounding like a chicken (and she IS a chicken, if anyone tried to break in, she'd run the other way, while barking of course!) |
